I last caught Echo & The Bunnymen in 2010 at a rather intimate venue, Ian and crew were still bloody brilliant
I’m envious!
Great to hear that it was a good show.
Another ‘classic’ album I haven’t played for ages…
Derek and the Dominos: Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs.
It’s true it’s magical and captivating. What a voice. There are some cracks on the first track that remind me some LP.
Wonderful music for a warm humid evening (in Scotland amazingly). IMO the most moving, perfect album in the last 30 years.
SACD transport or do you rip it?
A really remarkable and fresh interpretation of the war-horse. As you would expect ASM’s playing is superb.
Over the past year or so, I have been purchasing quite a lot (over 500) of CD’s from Discogs, usually at extraordinarily low prices…
and I’ve only had one ‘wong un’, so far!
These are the latest arrivals, now ripped (with dBpoweramp).
A fairly eclectic bunch!
I do play the physical disc albeit the sacd layer can’t be read ( I have a Rossini player apex) but the cd sounds fantastic . I have also ripped the cd as flac and this also sounds great . I have a load of CDs from this esoteric label sent to me by business partners based in the far east . They are exceptional recordings .
Outstanding….didn‘t realize that this is just CD quality… thought it’s highres so good is the SQ. Apart from that my fav Brahms Piano Concerto recording now.
Really like this album, great summer music
This arrived in the post today.
I’ve been looking for it for quite a while, and then I finally found it on Discogs…
Glad that you posted this. It is certainly a terrific session and a certain masterpiece of jazz. My question is does anyone have their system set up where the speakers actually disappear on this recording… any pressing. I am not able so far to get a system dialed in where the sax doesn’t sound as if it is direct micd to one channel
B
In my system, the speakers almost completely disappear when listening to this HDTT version (DSD 256 dowsampled in Roon to DSD 128).
I haven’t had the same experience as you with the sax, which I hear as being just left of mid stage, but I do sometimes hear the percussion coming directly from my speakers…
As you say, it’s a terrific session!
…the percussion on this album sounds superb on my system…
not to say that the other instruments don’t!
