I really like this album. IMO top notch performances by all of the musicians, including the remarkable bassist Tal Wilkenfeld (who was only 21 at the time!).
Excellent RQ/SQ.
What a a great record. Vocalise version of many of the great jazz standards from the ( I guess) hard bop era. The sound quality is excellent but I have to say that in this instance the vinyl version is really remarkable and was a standard used by at least one UK magazine back in the day.
I saw him and his quartet on Monday at Ronnie Scotts. What a great show with speech and songs dovetailed into a continuous and swinging whole touching on being happy, French existentialism, Lorca and modernism, the labours of Sisyphus and swinging. Quite a mix! Sold right out and everyone left happy.
Sorry English friends on this forum and all dCS people…I can’t get used to this kind of pictures…We are in 2023, neither in 1615 nor in a Disneyland park…but if the music was good, we can forgive them
