Mosaic 1.44 update not working

Hi @Ermos

I’m sorry that you had issues updating Mosaic - obviously if there is something that is incorrect in the manuals then we would like to get it addressed ASAP so can you point me at the section in the Rossini Manual that says that your iPad is supported by Mosaic and I’ll get that looked at and changed if necessary…? Can you tell me which version of iOS your iPad Air is currently running?

I have this spinning wheel on Mosaic, but my Lina screen is blank, so if it’s requesting a restart I cant tell. I tried cycling with the front panel button but nothing happens.

Can I safely ‘turn it off and back on again?’

Thanks

Phil, I wonder if the issue with ipad Air is the age of @Ermos model? I have ipad Air2 and this will not update Mosaic v 1.43 and AppStore does not offer the upgrade. This runs iOS 15.8 but Apple are not offering higher versions.

My Iphone 15 running iOS 18.5.3 does allow AppStore to offer v.1.44.

So I am afraid that the solution appears to be purchase of a new model of ipad.

Hi @PAR

I too suspect that @Ermos issue is that his iPad is nor on a supported version of iOS but I would like to get that confirmed so that we know exactly where we are.

Similarly I’ve had a skim through the Rossini manual for information as to Mosaic support on iOS devices but I haven’t seen anything so again if I can get that confirmed then I can make sure that is addressed. I suspect that it’s the “MFI Compliance” information that is causing confusion there but again if we can get that confirmed then I can make sure that anything necessary is addressed.

Can I again ask that if anyone is having issues with the firmware update then they contact us at [email protected] and I can then make sure that your issue is worked through and addressed.

Hi @Flikflac,

Can you tell me whether this is after applying the update from Mosaic? If so then the update can take anything up to 45 minutes to apply (but usually it is much quicker than that).

Do you normally have the display turned off on your Lina DAC?

If you can let me know whether you have already started an update and how long ago then I can then get a better understanding of what is going on in your specific instance.

Can I again ask that if anyone is having issues with the firmware update then they contact us at [email protected] and I can then make sure that your issue is worked through and addressed.

Hi @Phil this is my situation:

Model: iPad Air
Software version: 12.5.7

If I try to update Mosaic Control it says iOS 15.6 is the minimum.

The manual:

Software Release 2.1x
November 2023

Just broadcast. When this failed I went to the Web Interface.

This seems to be the case, as also others @Bauer and @Paul_Bemelmans reported here that only after a while the update was found.

Yes after Mosaic update, I started about 8am

I’ll send an email to support

Hi @Ermos

OK - That’s great, that gives me the information that I need!

Yes, iOS 11 and 12 were no longer supported after the 513 update in May 2024 … unfortunately older versions of iOS do become unsupported over time. We do try to support “old” iOS versions for as long as possible but, generally, the rolling off of support for older iOS versions is rarely a decision that is ours to make and may be determined by the submission requirements of the Appstore or requirements of the iOS programming libraries.

This refers to “Made For iPhone” (MFi) certification … MFi (https://mfi.apple.com/) is (was) a program that was created by Apple to allow for the certification of products that were intended to connect directly to Apple devices - in this case that would be the ability to connect dCS units to an iPhone / iPad either via a USB cable (to allow playback of stored music held on the iPhones internal storage which is not exposed as a USB mass storage device) or via WiFi using Airplay.

It isn’t in itself related to apps or anything else like that but we do comply with the MFi certification and any products that comply with that were required to have that certification included in the documentation.

I hope that helps.

When I couldn’t find the Rossini by way of broadcast, I looked up the IP address of the Rossini in my router, and then entered that address in the little “Settings” dialog box in Mosaic. That worked. So I guess it’s the usual service discovery mechanism of my home network that is wonky.

By the way, AFTER the network board update finished, the Rossini came back all by itself - no reboot necessary… did take a while though where the Mosaic app was imploring me to reboot the Rossini. Decided to wait it out though, with success. Should have timed it!

Same here! It took a bit over 16 minutes.

Thanks @Phil that is clear. I only use Mosaic Control app for updates and settings, so I will switch to my Android phone from now on.

@Phil noticed I hadn’t tagged you…

Hi @Flikflac

Thanks for the reply here and for dropping me an email to support@ … let me take a look and get back to you.

Simple Mosaic 1.44 Update Guide:
1. Make sure your device (iPhone, iPad, Galaxy, etc.) is updated to the latest firmware version.
2. Update the Mosaic software on your device.
3. Use the Mosaic software to update your DCS device.
4. Wait until the device prompts for a manual restart.
5. Unplug the LAN cable from the device, plug it back in, and wait for a moment.
6. To be extra sure, power cycle the device using the hard switch.
7. Wait a bit and reconnect.
8. Done! The update process is complete.

If anyone can share any performance improvements after the update, that would be great. Good luck, and hope this update enhances your experience!

Thanks but not quite.

The unit to be updated should should first be switched off from the rear panel rocker switch before the update is selected via Mosaic. This refreshes the unit 's software. There is no need to disconnect from the mains outlet or unit’s power inlet.

Now leave it for a couple of minuets .Restart.

Now select the upgrade option in the latest Mosaic app version. The update will take some time and can be monitored on the unit’s front panel screen.

When complete the screen will show a request to restart. You just need to restart as if from it having been turned off.

There is no need to remove LAN cable.
