I have the Lina stack (DAC, Clock, AMP). Sounds great and I love it. But there is an occasional error that impacts playback: Every now and then the screen on the DAC locks up and looks like random lines. Playback continues fine. But the bitrate is locked. If I continue to play other titles at the same bitrate, no problem. But if I choose a title at a different bitrate the music is slow/fast depending on the delta. Same behavior for flac and DSD.
I use Roon primarily from a 15TB archive. Rebooting DAC fixes problem.
Hi William. Its now been over a day since you posted and there have been no suggestions about your issue or how to fix it. To help identify where the solution may lie could you temporarily change from Roon to using dCS Mosaic. It might be a Roon issue rather then your Lina and this would help track it down.
As there has not been any response aside from this I am also tagging @Phil at dCS support so that he is made aware of your issue.
Ah yes, this is the same issue I have with my Rossini (+ clock) sometimes. Frozen screen, DAC not responsive to either front panel or “the plank” remote, bit rate frozen - and if a streaming connection is open, then if the bit rate matches what is coming down the pipe then everything sounds OK, otherwise speedups/slowdowns ensue.
Sure, will do. Though this unit is soon heading its way to Moremusic for an APEX upgrade; I can ask the folks there to have a close look at the unit at the same time, perhaps they can spot any potential issues.
Well as long as we KNOW that there’s an underlying issue to be identified and resolved first then that’s fine - we can get both done at the same time.
But we just need to make sure that it’s known and dealt with.
Generally where any work is done really depends on the capabilities of the distributor or dealer - some distributors (and even dealers) have very good service facilities and are very capable.
Every fault / issue is handled on its own merits but I’ll normally work closely with a dCS dealer / distributor to perform any required diagnosis to identify the fault and from there ensure the repair is handled in the most effective way possible - whether that is that the unit comes back to us or the unit is repaired “in house” or “in country” by the distributor / dealer.
No random lines, it just gets stuck at displaying the informations it was displaying at the moment it froze, obviously without title scrolling or playing time updates.
As for the rest, same issue as described. I can switch tracks on my iPhone, they switch but if the bitrate changes then playing speed isn’t correct. Gets quicker if the bitrate is lower, gets slower if the bitrate is higher. Front buttons don’t respond, only solution is to use the back main switch and reboot.
