Lina DAC Screen and Bitrate Freeze

Thanks Paul,

I was looking to keep any identifiable information away from the forums, I’ve got your email so we’ll get that sorted with More Music for you.

Cheers

It’s really hard to isolate the issue. This weekend I had several hours listening, switching between different bitrates, and it didn’t occur. Another evening you’re getting this on the first track you listen to, go figure.

Hi Paul,

I’m wondering if you ever had this issue resolved. I have a Rossini player which never had any problems until the Apex upgrade. Now I’m getting the exact issues you described.

If it was resolved, would you mind to let me know how that was acomplished. I have already started a dialog with dcs Support as well.

Thanks,

David

Yeah, for me the experience was the opposite: since the Apex upgrade, I haven’t had any freezing issues anymore (I think ;-))

On advice from dCS, an interconnect assembly from one board in the DAC to another was replaced (from what I can gather from the pictures I took during the upgrade, it was from the control board to the power board).

Hi Paul,

That interesting and good news!

To be sure I understand, dcs let (advised) you replace that internal interconnect (or have a local tech do it) and that solved the problem? Then later you upgraded to Apex?

Well, dcs has all my logs and info so let’s see what they say. The funny thing is that this seems to impact every model in their lineup from time to time so perhaps that interconnect is used across their line.

Best,

David

I had taken up a conversation with dCS already about the sometimes freezing Rossini; when I mentioned I was going for the Apex upgrade it was agreed to take a look the issue while doing said upgrade. It was then that I heard from the technician doing the work that dCS recommended swapping that cable assembly that I mentioned. I was sceptical that this would have any effect - but yeah, haven’t had any freezing behaviour since…

That’s super helpful. Thanks!

Now you get to enjoy great music.

Best,

David

I guess this would apply to my Bartok as well then (well, I won’t get it back anymore, but glad the culprit was found).

I’ll be sending mine back soon and I’m hoping they will track down and fix my problem as well. Perhaps the same as you had Paul. I’ll let you know!

Looks like i had the same problem you did Paul. dcs replaced an internal power cable a few weeks ago and no freezes or problems since. VERY happy!

Thanks everyone for your help with this,

David

It’s great it was such a small issue.
Luckily, I haven’t had this on the Vivaldi One Apex.

Can you imagine being the company that supplied faulty connectors that randomly mess up 5 figure players?! That would be pretty embarrassing I’d imagine.
