Horrible sound occurring at times

Been told that the boards will get replaced. As for the no fault, I think we have long gone past that over the year and half its been going on.

I am sure they will be trying my old board to see what the he’ll was going on. Could just be a sticking relay? Or something not latching on correctly at times or a few. I am sure they will enjoy trying to find out.

I am just looking forward to getting it back with no problem.

If dCS eventually find something on your Upsampler that can impact every other Upsampler, I guess that either they will issue a new firmware or recall all the Upsamplers, as car manufacturers do, sometimes….

Hi @Dunc ,

Yours was one of the issues that I wanted to get nailed down and closed off before I left - sorry I didn’t get to see you at Whittlebury when you dropped it back.

The plan in place is that the control board will be replaced and you’ll get it back with a totally new “brain” so hopefully that will sort things for you.

(@PAR - there was nothing apparent in any of the logs that we had through from Duncan.)

R&D will undoubtedly take a look at the board that comes out of your Upsampler but I suspect that as the issue can take quite some time to show itself then it may be that they never get to replicate it and it simply gets classed as a faulty board.

Anyway, what’s important is that you get it back and the issue is sorted and I’m sure that the guys will make sure that happens ASAP!

Obviously not a problem Phil, shame we didn’t get to meet at the show but thats life.

As said hope all goes well for you in whats next

A little update for anyone interested.

My vivaldi upsampler gas been on test back at dCS first 2 weeks now and its been working faultlessly.

So now my vivaldi apex dac is going to join it to see if this is the culprit.

A bit of a pain, but atleast dCS is doing its upmost to find the problem and sort it. I can only think what sort of response you might get with other manufacturers if you had a similar problem.

Hope they manage to sort it soon for you:+1:

Aren’t you pleased ‘Clara’ from Kobuz isn’t dealing with your issue.

It should be sorted soon, I have faith.

Having been to the home of dCS i have seen first hand the ability they have.

Road trip tomorrow morning down to Cambridge, well down to dCS headquarters.

Dropping my dac off and my shunyata sigma aes cables, so a full test on it all can be done. So it’s boxed up ready to go. The rack is looking ransacked, but luckily I am being lent a full Varese system while it’s all gone.

Only joking, but I am getting a vivaldi dac. Lol

I don’t really use the melco these days, well i am having to at the moment till I get the upsampler back.

Popped down to dCS this morning to drop the dac off. Was only just dropping off, but ended up having a nice chat and made very welcome as always.

Got to see something special, a gold bartok, only 10 made and it looked lovely, it would certainly be an Accuphase owners dream item.

Just a waiting game now, hopefully not too long, but I have a replacement vivaldi dac, so the music can continue.

Cheers dunc

Any chance of a part ex?

Is it because, so far they’re unable work out your issue, that you needed give them your other boxes, to eliminate them as the cause?
Hope you sort it soon :+1:

The upsampler has been on test for over a week, constantly going round and round, and working fine.

But in my last video I sent in the dac was showing mute, but a horrible sound coming out. So it could be the dac and not the upsampler??? but dCS have them both now, plus my sigma AES cables. So hopefully having them both the issue will pop up and then get sorted.

But it was nice to pop down again and nice to hear that things are going very well, loads of orders, and a really good chat about all things dCS.

The gold Bartok was something special and never seen one before. They were done for 10 special people and unfortunately this was back due to the owners passing. RiP.

Do you have a clock too? Maybe the clock is a possible cause.
Horrible sound usually happens when my Vivaldi 3 stacks playing together.

They will get you sorted out soon, will be interesting to hear what the cause is.

Regarding the gold Bartok, I think there were also Vivaldi Ones made in gold?

Hi there. The gold Bartóks that Dunc mentions are a muted anodised gold made specifically for the dCS Legends whereas the gold Vivaldi One was a gold plate finish.

I should have taken a picture of the gold bartok but I didn’t, as Mark has said, it’s not a shiny gold, but it had a different volume nob with etching, and had dCS Legend Series also etched on the front. It looked smart and not bling if you get what I mean.

As for my clock, they haven’t asked for it, so I guess that’s not in the frame as being a possibility issue.

If you want to read about the Legends you can do so here

Thanks

Good read, thanks for posting the link up.

You can get to see now what I should havetaken a photo off, but in the flesh I feel its even more special and was nice to see.

Here’s hoping Duncs gets his Vivaldi back soon!

(I saw the gold plated Vivaldi One there and while definitely not my thing, it looked spectacular and was clearly an amazing piece of work.)

Going back down this week to pick them both up. Be great to get it back, as i have certainly missed it.
