Horrible sound occurring at times

Are you picking the Varèse as well?

Going to discuss a payment plan out, so could be bringing one home.

Just got to see if my 50 pence a week is ok, or if it need to stretch it out to 75 pence, as that’s probably going to be the deal breaker

  Or like me, paying for my Vitus with an extra paper round in the morning!
Sounds exciting about the Varèse! Go for it!
I could be heading towards new speakers?? Can’t help feeling that my 606’s are holding back my Vitus?

Well speakers are extremely room dependant as i am sureyou know. The kudos titan range are extremely easy on placement, as i have proven in my own room, and different hotel rooms.

I guess you might be getting swayed into avalon? As this seems to be what a certain person says is what you 100% should have with Vitus, I have heard them a few times now and didn’t like them at all, plus they need lots of room, and I can’t give them that. So basically home trial is 100% on any speaker, and see how you get on. But I absolutely love my 808’s.

I listened to a pair of Avalons a couple of months ago, as the dealer in Norwich was trying to offload his demo pair.

Probably the most ugliest speakers I’ve ever seen. Couldn’t possibly look at those all day, every day!

Looking at 808’s (There’s a nice pair on eBay at the moment for £15,000)
Magico
Wilson Benesch

This emphasises that speakers not only need to be compatible with the room but with the listener as well.

AS you know I am not a rock and pop listener and although it is now some years since I listened to Avalons, I have never heard a pair that I did not like the sound of driven by Conrad Jonson amps as a classical music fan.

Their shape is for practical acoustic design reasons minimising the baffle size in relation to the drive unit. However the finish of the pair illustrated is (putting it politely) not to my taste. And then some !

I have seen some 808’s even cheaper than that just lately.

Wilson speakers i find need lots of space, also a lot of set up, especially if they have the time aline adjustment on them, I tend to find they either work or they don’t, nothing in between. Also they have a sweet spot, but outside that one spot they tend to sound a bit left or right, and have a big hole in the middle, probably why they don’t tend to do well at shows. But I guess given the space, time, etc you can dial them in at home.

Magico I like more, but again need lots of room to work correctly. But probably easier to dial in against the time aline wilson’s

Analogue seduction, 808’s under £13k, x display, new speakers in walnut. Bargain.

I didn’t know this until this week, but Wilson (USA) and Wilson Benesch (UK made) are two different companies.

The Wilson speakers Look a bit OTT, whereas Wilson Benesch are my style.

JC! That is a bargain!

Wilson Audio speakers OTT? How could you say that of these. My friend’s wife is desperate for a pair. Or maybe I misunderstood her .

They are insane!
I can’t imagine what’s needed to drive those?

All back, just put them back in the rack, so all ready to go.

Once again a huge thanks go out to the team at dCS, they have certainly shown exactly what a fantastic organisation they are. They have been behind me all the way on this, yes it went on for a bit, but that’s more down to me really as it was such a odd problem that wasn’t there most of the time, I just lived with it and keep doing logs, etc.

But its back, I am so glad as I have so missed my upsampler, I love the vivaldi apex dac on its own, and have certainly go to know it much better since the upsampler has been away, but I have missed mosaic and certainly the upsampling.

So cheers to you all at dCS and I hope I don’t need to bother you again for a long time.

Any idea of exactly what was causing the ussue?

Glad the you have it all working satisfactorily again.

That answer is probably best coming from them as i will only get it wrong, I was just happy to go get it today.

Enjoy Dunc!:+1:

And the Varèse?:smirking_face::grinning_face:

Everything is good now? Did the problem solved?
I’d like to now, thanks.

Been back a week now and all good so far, but as you willhave probably read, this probably could go months and be fine and then play up, a strange one to try and get to the bottom off.

As I stated above I don’t want to try and explain as if i am being honest I don’t think I could explain it, so best ask dCS.

Cheers dunc

I see, thanks for the reply.
