Duke Ellington, “Blues In Orbit”, (MOFI SACD).

Such a classic piece of work.

Extraordinary sound quality for a disc recorded in a small café-concert hall.
You can clearly hear the acoustic of the place!

As Cortez The Killer is one of my alltime favourites of old Neill this drew my attention. And you’re right. This 20 minute version equals if not surpasses Neil Young’s version. Doug Martsch also sounds almost identical as Neil Young. Thx for this! Added to my favourites.

Duane Allman Anthology
CD rip 16/44.1

One of the great songs on the Duane Allman Anthology. We were listening on the stereo when Mary suggested I look for whether there might be a video. I was not optimistic. I was wrong. One of the great blues performances of all time. No studio video footage, bummer, but that’s okay, lots of stills.

Was browsing through my CD collection and stumbled on this. Hadn’t played it in a very long time. Not available on Qobuz so had to rip it. Played for the first time on my dCS and Soulution kit. Stunned. It’s a live recording and always sounded a bit messy on my old kit. Now amazed by sound quality and soundstage.

Up to now my favourite new album this year, love the title song, played so softly and still full sounding with great detail.
