This a reposting as for some reason my original one has disappeared.

Korngold/Tchaikovsky violin concertos. Anne-Sophie Mutter/Previn, VPO/LSO
24/44.1 Qobuz

The Korngold is the main item for me. This is probably the most popular violin concerto of the latter 20th century. Just about every major soloist since the 1970s has recorded this so there are many recordings. This one is superb with much colour and drama no doubt brought by Previn’s Hollywood history ( Korbgold was one of the great movie soundtrack composers). Violin is recorded a little too close IMO, in typical DGG style.

I like the quiet, more lyrical pieces more than his other stuff…

I’m a bit late to the ‘party’, but I’m enjoying this new album from Pulp. It’s been a long time coming, but the wait was worth it…

I will cue it on Qobuz and thank you for notifying it. I saw her a a local concert hall many years ago when she came complete with a brass band. Very Northern!
