You Can’t Do That On Stage Anymore vol.3. Probably the best of the series although hard to pick a favourite.

NOTE, NSFW and also contains profanity just in case you aren’t a fan.
Thanks Mark, finally Zappa here
Around this time I have attended several of his live gigs. Unforgettable.
I started with this one: Zappa | Sheik Yerbouti
And ended up with all of his, on vinyl, and CD, and streaming. Hard to pick a favourite, as you say.
But this is one of mine, around the same time (1991):
Zappa | The best band you never heard in your life
Love this.
- What a watershed year in my youth. This album and the Allman Brothers and Who’s Next. Led Zep IV and L.A.Woman. 4-Way Street. Oshkosh, Wisconsin and Macon, Georgia. Lots of love and lots of loss.
I sold all my vinyl a good while back, think it was 2010. Had a good collection of picture discs and limited editions which netted a good few £ towards new house works.
I think I have a large qty of CDs in storage still, again since 2010… Really must do something about those.
@Mark Actually this is the only one missing in my collection. It is essentially an audio documentary of ideas by FZ about quad and 4 channel mixes and multichannel recordings.
Frank Zappa | QuAUDIOPHILIAc
Audio Options: 5.1 MLP for DVD-Audio Players; 5.1 DTS for DTS-Capable systems; 2.0 PCM for all DVD-Video players.
Hmm I don’t have that nor have I seen it. Get it and complete the collection.
Ordered, and on its way
For TIDAL subscribers, here is a chronological playlist of all of the official discography by FZ, with just some missing (like this one, Quaudiophiliac), 2646 tracks with 206+ hours of playback:
