just seen her live in concert for the first time … probably in my top 5 concerts ever … goosebumps during the whole set, and a lot of unreleased titles ! what a generous artist she is ! the album has been streaming on my system, very often ever since (and long before too). Great choice !

IMHO Alex Turner (and Ellie Rowsell of Wolf Alice) are the UK’s best lyricist right now. Both (and the Last Shadow Puppets) get spun at home a lot.

Actually more unbelievable is that I was at the concert in Central Park 46 years ago when they previewed these songs. We were expecting a normal Heads concert with the four of them. Quite the spectacle when David Byrne announced that they had just finished a new album, and wanted to preview a few new songs for the “hometown NY crowd”. The 4 members started playing and by the end of the song there were something like 20 people on stage playing wild Afro funk grooves. Bernie was there and I vaguely recall Bootsy may have also hopped on stage (?). The remainder of the concert was spent with everyone on their feet dancing to this wild music. One of thee most memorable concerts I have been to.

BTW, Dutronc Father (Jacques now 80+y old) and Son (Thomas, Françoise Hardy’s unique child), re-interpreting “Les Cactus” Jacques was originally singing in the 60s:

On August 27, 1980 the expanded Talking Heads performed a showcase of tracks to an 8,000-person full house at the Wollman Rink, as well as approximately another 10,000 seated on the grass outside the walls, in Central Park.
Brian Eno advised Talking Heads that the music on Remain in Light was too dense for a quartet to perform live. The band expanded to nine musicians for the tours in support of the album, with Harrison recruiting Adrian Belew, Parliament-Funkadelic keyboardist Bernie Worrell, bassist Busta “Cherry” Jones, Ashford & Simpson percussionist Steven Scales, and backing vocalist Dolette MacDonald. [ + Nona Hendryx backing vocals]
