What's spinning April 2022

This is a recent release from Sound Liaison.

Excellent SQ/RQ (recorded in DXD 352.8 kHz/24) with a ‘warm’ sound (which I find appealing) from the acoustics of the small wooden church in which the recording was made.

It seems that the album is not available on streaming services, but the tracks can be sampled in this link.

Recent (I think) release from NativeDSD. Billed as an “ode to the night,” it is tonally atmospheric, but not somnolent.

Coincidentally, last weekend I noticed this album on the NativeDSD website.

I was intrigued, especially as this album is a firm favourite of mine, but I got distracted (again!)

Thanks for posting it. I’ll listen to the sample tracks…

I already had this album (Qobuz 192/24 download) in my library but, in my system, this HDTT DSD 256 version elevates the SQ in a not insignificant manner…

notwithstanding the necessity to downsample to DSD 128…

I really hope that dCS enable DSD 256 playback sooner, rather than later!

Just picked that up. I don’t mind the downsampling too much, and I can enjoy it straight up on the MSB. And of course with HDTT, if you buy the 256, you can download the 128 for no extra charge.

Edit: This a great example of Mercury Living Presence’s recording prowess.
I find it an enjoyable listen too…

This is also well a recorded album, expertly performed by John Wilson’s Sinfonia of London (recommended by @PAR )

Qobuz download (96kHz/24)

Another from HDTT.

Thanks. I’ve also got the HDTT version, which is definitely a favourite.
I prefer this cover artwork…

If it’s of any interest, these are my HDTT purchases to date…

I think that they’re all very enjoyable, and high quality transfers.

Roon brought me here after a run of some fine jazz. And this was no exception.

That’s one of my favourite jazz albums.
I usually listen to it late in the day, along with a glass of something ‘medicinal’…
