I just noticed that my Vivaldi Clock is Version 1.01. The current Version is 1.20. In doing some research, it appears I can’t update it through Mosaic. Any thoughts on how to get the update or, better yet, is the update even necessary. My Vivaldi stack works fine, as is. I don’t want to mess with anything unless I have to, lol. Thanks for any input.
That’s right Jim, the Vivaldi Clock cannot be updated via Mosaic. It’s updated via the Reference Clock input, which normally accepts a 10MHz External Clock source, but when the Vivaldi Clock is put into Update mode, that input will accept the firmware update from a binary PCM stream via any CD Transport, or Compute platform, that can output PCM bit-perfectly over S/PDIF BNC.
The latest firmware version is in fact 1.21 (which has some hardware compatibility updates), issued in May 2017.
If your local dCS dealer can’t help you, then your best bet to get the update CD (or WAV file), is [email protected]
Thanks for the response. I will try my dealer first and if that doesn’t work I will use the support link provided. Much appreciated.
Let us know what you find.
there is no update for v. 1.21 issued by dCS. It was only for future technical purposes and I am not sure that any have transpired .
Whether the other updates offer any subjective benefit is questionable as they appear to be concerned with accepting commands for higher sample rate frequencies all of which are multiples of 44.1 or 48 kHz anyway .
I’m not sure what you mean Pete, yes there was a 1.21 release for the Vivaldi Clock. I know this for a fact because I have it on disc ![]()
IIRC, not every hardware vintage required it, so, there was no functionality difference from 1.20.
This appears to be dCS contradicting itself. The Vivaldi Clock software update history says for v. 1.21 ( my emphasis) :
There is no need to update from v1.20, this version will not be offered as a free update.

I don’t see any contradiction. As I mentioned, there’s no functionality difference between the two versions. 1.21 was released to support certain hardware vintage.
The contradiction is that dCS say they will not offer v. 1.21!as an upgrade but you say (with supporting evidence me) that you have it.
You’re missing a key word from your own quote there Pete ![]()

Vivaldi Clock – Software Update v1.21
5th April 2017
This update adds compatibility with newer hardware. There is no need to update from v1.20, this version will not be offered as a free update.
(emphasis mine)
I conclude that it can be purchased then? You live and learn.
