Varèse Multichannel Event!

Hi Guys, I’m participating in an amazing Varèse multichannel event and wrote a quick little announcement about it. I can’t wait!

here’s a link - https://audiophilestyle.com/ca/bits-and-bytes/world-premiere-dcs-varèse-multichannel-event-r1386/

Nice coup for Maier!

Looks like a great event! If I happen to be in LA, is there a way to attend? (Feel free to DM me)

Just rsvp to the email or phone number listed.

I am just curious about a Varèse multichannel event. To me multichannel means 5.1 channels or more. Varese is 2 channel. Does this imply multi-Vareses to enable such a thing?

Pete,

In the link;

it mentions “…a full dCS Varèse system with six individual DAC channels, each housed in their own chassis…”

Thanks Jonathan, yes, 6 Varese DACs. As cheap as chips as we say here . But I wonder how the timing is arranged or how the core unit manages.

Pity that I am several thousands of miles away or I would pop along to find out.

Indeed!

I’m wondering the same…
I hope that the exact set up will be reported here after the event, if not before…

You and me both!

Physically, presumably all 6 available ACTUS ports on the back of the Core (out of the 8 total, with 1 dedicated for the Clock unit, and 1 for the Interface unit), can be connected to 6 DAC units.

This demo would also suggests that the Varèse Core is able to handle multichannel tracks via the Streaming interface. I wonder if natively from Mosaic ACTUS, or via Roon’s multichannel support

Or the Audient Oria again?

That would requires 3 x I/O modules to be installed on the Varèse Core, and require some internal way to steer the multichannel traffic to individual DAC units

It’s an all dCS system. No Oria.

Yes and yes :~)

Is that 2nd Yes with Mosaic ACTUS natively or Roon? (or both?)

Both.

Much more to come after the system is setup and playing music.

Looking forward to that!

Nice!

Now, this picture starts to make a lot more sense!

There will be no hdmi used in the system for this event.

This will be multi-channel audio, not AV.

Yes of course. I meant the future support for HDMI ports on an audio platform only really make sense in the context of multichannel audio.
