Besides opening a ticket is there anything else I could try?
Everything is running smoothly with 513 and none of the fixes/improvements in 523 apply to my situation. So I could also adhere to the old adage “If it ain’t broke don’t try to fix it.”…
Hi and welcome to the forum. As a newcomer you probably won’t be aware of the history of issues associated with updates. One of the most common failure is not to refresh the existing software from memory before carrying out the firmware update.
The way this is achieved is by switching off the dCS unit from the rocker switch on the rear panel, waiting a minute or two then rebooting. It is then time to select the update option in Mosaic.
By unplugging your Bartok you have made the same action as using the rocker switch. So well done but there is a slightly more elegant route.
I encountered the same error message updating my Vivaldi Upsampler Plus. After 5 tries, I switched the unit off and waited for about 1 minute before switching it back on. The update then was successful. So yes, a fresh reboot prior to updating seems prudent.
May very well be my problem too. Thx! I"ll try that first.
Edit:
That did the trick! All good now. Will try to remember it next time. Not obvious at my age…
That’s the problem.
I would power the unit off before doing an update.
Do it and you are just about guaranteed success, dont do it and then problems can happen.
It definitely isn’t necessary to do a power off reboot of a streamer before updating (if it was then we’d specify to do so first) but if you do have any issues updating then it is usually the first thing that we get the user to do and it does resolve most update issues.
Owning a Bartok as well, the update went very smoothly for me.
I didn’t have to power off the Bartok, I just requested the update from Mosaic while the device was running without interruption for several weeks.
I waited for approximately 5 minutes for the update to complete, and the Bartok then came back to life and locked its clock, “ready to go” without need for any power cycle to restart…
