Hi,
I have a bartok apex connected to TV through an optical connection.
The problem is that the video(dialogue) on TV and the actual sound do not sychronize.
How can I solve this issue?
Hello Simon,
Open the Mosaic app, then select device.
Youâll see that there is a buffer toggle switch
When watching TV, deselect it
That should resolve it but, if not, let us know.
âBuffer offâ solved the problem, thanks!
By the way, I can use Mosaic app only when the LAN is connected to Bartok.
As I usually connect LAN cable directly to Aurender and then connect Aurender to Bartok with AES (in this connection I cannot activate Mosaic) , it is tiresome to reconnect cables to (de) activate Buffer in Mosaic.
Can I leave buffer off when connecting Bartok to Aurender without compromizing the streaming quality?
Or, can I switch âBufferâ without directly connecting Lan cable to Bartok?
Thatâs good.
You could leave it off, but you may be interested to see this dCS Ring DAC technical explanation from @James
I will add to Jonathanâs response and hope that he doesnât mind.
When incoming sample rates change ( e.g, 16/44.1 to 24/96), DAC has to change accordingly. The buffer delays the signal and gives DAC time to detect the change, mute and do this. Otherwise there may be audible clicks or bangs.
So the audio stream itself would sound fine but you may be disturbed by unwanted noises though your speakers when changing tracks.
With buffer off, which filter would be the best to minimize noises when changing tracks?
This has no bearing at all upon filters. It is about allowing DAC to automatically mute before changing sample rates. So, to be more precise, noises should not occur with a sequence of items having the same sample rates anyway as there will be no change.
So, to avoid any chance of the noise being generated and passed to your speakers when buffer is off, you will need to mute DAC manually first each time sample rate changes.
Following my friendâs advice, I decided to connect two lan cables from the router to aurender and to bartok. In this way, I can use autender at the same time I get access to Mosaic to manually switch buffer on/ off from my cell phone.
Thank you Pete for the clarification on filters!
