Rossini will not play

I forgot to turn my Rossini off when I went out for a few hours, and now it won’t do anything. Tried all sorts of different ways of trying to bring it to life but it never plays anything and then shuts down.

That doesn’t sound too good. Hopefully we can get you up-and-running again.

But please could you give us just a bit more info?

  • Rossini DAC or Rossini Player?
  • Never plays what? (CD, streaming, other?)
  • How are you controlling it? (front panel, remote, Mosaic?)
  • What “all sorts of different ways” have you tried to bring it to life?
  • Can you describe exactly what happens when you try to play something? (do you see any metadata or a track number, does the timer start to increment but no audio or just no response whatsoever?)
  • When it shuts down what state is it in? Sleep (LED over power button lit) or totally off?

Many leave their Rossini (m or other dCS unit) switched on 24/7. So leaving it is unlikely to cause an issue.

It seems from your post that the unit does switch on but you say that it subsequently shuts down. Can you tell us a little more. Do you see the display for a time? Are you able to use Mosaic during the period that it is on? What is feeding it? Do you use a power conditioner?

I left it overnight and then stripped the system down to the simplest, just the Player, and clock feeding out to a power amp. The first couple of times I tried playing a CD it started but after a short period it just shut down. However on about the third time it played the complete CD and is still doing it an hour later. Just now it has reached the end. It has just started playing the second one. I’ll try other inputs later as I need to exercise to keep fit so I am going for my daily walk.
Thanks for the quick response. It matches what I expect from DCS.
Enjoyed the system in the smaller room at Whittlebury. Wasn’t as happy in the larger room. It
didn’t “drive “ the room as well.
Thanks again
Hilary
