Rossini Disc Tray Has Mind of its Own

Dear dCS Support,

I have the separate Rossini transport, connected to a Rossini DAC and clock. Using either the buttons on the front of the remote or the remote, the disc tray on the transport frequently opens, then immediate closes again without any input from me. Sometimes this happens once, more frequently it happens repeatedly.

At some point I get frustrated and try to throw the disc onto the tray during the second or so it is open. But the tray is a difficult target, and if I miss the disc jams the tray, which can only be opened at that point by force.

This sure seems like a programming error to me, so it should be fixable. But eventually jamming the tray and forcing it open is going to cause real damage. Please help,

Roger Hillas

Hi Roger. sorry to learn of your issue. However the way to contact dCS Support is here:
[email protected]

This forum is primarily a discussion between dCS customers but dCS staff do look in from time to time. However their presence at any time cannot be guaranteed. So I am tagging @Phil to ensure that this is seen ( Phil’s role is in support).

Hi @PAR

We try to look in a couple of times a day at least but do very much appreciate you giving us the heads up Pete …

Hi @rshillas

It would be great if you were able to drop me an email at [email protected] as Pete has suggested giving me the serial numbers of your DAC, Transport and Clock plus some information as to when the issue started, where you are located geographically and who your nearest dealer is, without knowing anything more at this stage it sounds like there could be an issue with the transport itself but obviously we can work through the issue with you to find a solution.

Regards

Phil Harris

Having started this thread by posting to the wrong place, I’d like to end it by saying that dCS could not have been more prompt and helpful in dealing with the misbehaving disc drawer. Many thanks to Phil in the UK for initially fielding the problem and to Emron in the US for fixing it.

It is always true that when you buy an audio component you are also buying the company behind it. I can say from my own experience that dCS the company is every bit as impressive as the remarkable products it manufactures.
