Remote Control for my Delius/Purcell

When I bought my used Delius/Purcell from The Audiobarn Ltd it cam with a full metal remote . This did not work and The Audiobarn were great and returned it to dCS for repair which was made and it came back . It worked okay for about a month but then failed again . At that time I was using a different chain and another unit in the chain allowed me to control volume from my listening seat so I never bothered to do anything about the dCS remote.

The chain I have now is different and the only remote volume would be via the Delius. I do not use any of the set up on the remote as it is easier to do this directly on the Delius and Purcell . But due to the very wide differences in recorded volumes on different pieces of music a remote volume would be a very good thing instead of getting up every few minutes to adjust the volume .

I have noticed that dCS do not really deal directly but prefer through a dealer . I have contacted The Audiobarn but got no response . I am not expecting them to pay anything towards any repair just for them to act on my behalf with dCS to get things moving .

Does anyone know if dCS will deal directly ? If not is there any dealers in the North West who would be prepared to act as the go between .

I really do not need the full remote just a simple volume control would good enough but there does not seem to be any codes available to use with some of the universal remotes . If anyone has any details on this then please advise .

For the Delius I found the remote codes here (from page 52):

Thank you the first link does not cover the Delius and the second set of codes does not specify codes for Volume up or down I presume that you first need to press for Vol/ Bal and then use up and down . Will check this out and see if I can get anything to work . Appreciate you taking the time to respond .

I used a Logitec Harmony to control my Delius and Purcell.

The Logitec Harmony website also lists the Delius and Purcell as being fully supported

Thanks for this bought an old Logitech Harmony off e-bay for £34 and will give that a try . So long as it works the volume then I will be with that.

Please let us know how you get on so we can add to our store of knowledge.

I believe that Logitech have discontinued the Harmony range. Although the hardware may remain operational the software providing the codes for the appliances to be controlled had to be obtained online. Is this all still available to you ?

Hi Pete , Logitech have a very positive track record for long term support for products . The had the Squeezebox Touch many years ago and coming from that Logitech Media Server . When they backed out of that market they releases the software as open source and this is still alive and well and used by me via Vortexbox today .

The Harmony Remotes are as you say no longer produced but there are still lots of units being sold as used and in good working order. Logitech still maintains a site for you down load the software to programme the remotes and they have as has been said DCS and in particular for me the Delius listed.

I have already downloaded the desktop software from the Logitech site for Windows and I am not able to move on from this until the remote I have bought is delivered. I promise I will come back and confirm if this works and offers an option to dCS owners . Please though be aware I am only looking for volume control and am not interested in the control of other settings .

We’re using a Harmony Elite in the living room and we also have a Harmony Touch unit (I bought as a spare when the announcement was made) which works fine with my Rossini - both are still fully supported from a setup point of view

Unfortunately, I can’t get the software that sets up the Logitech Harmony 1100 we also have to run on any platform any more (but it has to be said it was discontinued a while ago). Very sad, they dropped such a great product.

Hi Andrew,

I’m not aware of this being raised to us before but drop me an email at [email protected] and we’ll see what we can do to assist … I’m not sure what spares we still have for the old remotes.

BR

Phil
