Great news!

Unfortunately no DSD streaming (yet), however Sublime offers nice discount.

Some DSD downloads are available but no streaming. Considering the bandwidth required for DSD, is such streaming viable? The Qobuz quote posted by @RobW only refers to albums sold. I see that the Italian quotation from @Frankie67 says streaming but I wonder if a PR person without technical knowledge was the source? After all downloads and streaming is what Qobuz does!

Still Qobuz surprised us before with hi-res PCM streaming.

Which is fine if they do not send erroneous downloads e.g. with incomplete metadata. Files like this create issues when they are transferred to players like Mosaic which , having no metadata, shoves them into a “No Tagging” dump. I have given up buying from them irrespective of any savings. I will try a test next year before my subscription renewal.

I’ve checked and it looks like it’s only available for downloads as of now. Hopefully, it will extend to streaming in the future.

Purchased about 300 albums and only once had an issue within one of the files. Reported back by Qobuz; they recognized it was a flaw in the one they received and it was corrected within 2 weeks. As stated Qobuz prohibits any tampering with files, Qobuz just offers everything as created by the labels.

I am glad that you have had success. I reported the errors to Qobuz and on several occasions they sent me a free choice of replacement albums. On two occasions those too were faulty due to incomplete tagging. Other downloads had errors in correct track order. This was during the initial weeks of the new download regime using the dedicated download manager, I never had any issues with their old method which used the download manager in one’s browser. This particular matter was sorted out by their IT team though.

As for mistakes made by the record label I doubt it. For example, pre- UMG takeovet, Hyperion was located a few hundred yards from me and I knew the person who did this task, no way would he miss out tracks. You also would not find the same error being made by several unconnected labels.

I wonder if your album collection was created before the new download regime was implemented by them? I never had any issues prior to this.

I’ve downloaded a couple of DSD files and it reads PCM (?)

The obvious question is did you pick the correct format from the options in the main Qobuz album page? Have you checked the order acknowledgement from Qobuz ?

The other possibility is you did not select the correct format in the Qobuz download manager.

Don’t worry as you should be able to download them again from your account but use the download store not the streaming app.

Being the ignoramus I am can someone bring me up to speed and let me know if our dCS boxes can play these downloads? What about the famous “our boxes do not support DSD256 or DSD512” issue?

AFAIK these are offered only as DSD. As there is no further distinction it means that they are DSD64 and therefore normal fodder for a dCS DAC.

Purchased and downloaded one track twice (website and download app) with good result:

The file stays available for re-download in Qobuz/Profile/My Purchase. However there are still only some hundreds of albums available at the moment and these don’t pop up when searched in their regular download shop webpage…

The albums range from DSD64 up to DSD512

[EDIT] Most is DSD64 but also found some DSD128 and one DSD512.

I suppose Qobuz is working on the database, using the link it looks like supply is growing and some items seems to come and go…

Quite feasible actually.

PrimeSeat was available when common home broadband speeds topped out at 1Gbps. These days broadband services (mostly in Japan and other Asian markets) are well beyond that.

Let’s hope Qobuz does launches DSD streaming services, they’d be the first mainstream player to do that.

This is what I see. The first album was supposed to be DSD but I don’t see that format. Am I doing something wrong?

Qobuz doesn’t yet provide the DSD format in their regular download page. If you already paid for those they should pop up after logging in on their regular webpage under ‘My profil > My Purchases’. Try download from there.

I’ve tried but it sends me to the download page which doesn’t show DSD as available format (?).

I just checked the Kanneko Bach disc on the Qobuz UK download store and the download page shows it available in both CD and DSD64 formats. So unless the Italian version is doing something different ( it may) you should be able to get it.

I wonder if we are talking about the same download page? Is it the page open to all comers or are you talking about the page in your personal account which lists all items purchased by you and which you can download or download again?

Edit: One hour later I tried again. No DSD!!, It has been replaced with 24/96 and 24/192 files.

Did Qobuz post an incorrect format which they have now corrected?

One way or the other it would send me to the download page (a different website which they call Qobuz Downloader) and DSD is not shown as available format.

Yes. I hope that you read the edit to my post above.
