Qobuz Connect is finally out of beta! Is dCS ready?

Similar issue for me:

Bartok updated and hey presto! Works like a charm. Thx!

Testing it now on my BartĂłk as well, works perfectly.

Anyone noticing any sound quality differences?

I am mostly a Roon user. I played several of the same recordings that I have locally via Roon, the same songs from Qobuz through Roon, and lastly Qobuz Connect. I couldn’t hear any difference with Qobuz content. I could be convinced that local files via Roon sounded more dynamic.

Let’s say you change your TV’s Remote to a Universal Remote. Does the Picture Quality of your TV suddenly become better?

That’s pretty much exactly the scenario with Qobuz Connect; the Control Point has changed from Mosaic/Qobuz to the Qobuz App. Thats all. Nothing else has changed.

The exact same tracks/albums are streamed from Qobuz Servers as it always has, and the dCS requests and receive those streams in exactly the same way it always has, and the D-to-A conversion is exactly the same as it always was.

How can you tell if your ripped files are the same mastered versions as what Qobuz is streaming?

The only legitimate comparison would be an apple to apple one. Unfortunately it is not an easy task determining which versions the streaming services are using.

Ha fairs that’s what I am expecting. But these days you never know!

If there’s an actual sound quality improvement, I’m pretty sure dCS would not be keeping it a secret

Edited - Solved

This is true. I did choose recordings that I bought from Qobuz and did select the same format. That was as much as I could do.

As I said, I could be convinced. Then again this time of night I am quite a bit more affable then during the day.

I heard more clarity and presence on my system.

Perfect - and better than most others on the WBF Vivaldi thread who have been comparing apples to
oranges

Just for fun, as your set will be very resolving/transparent, did you have a go at comparing Qobuz connect vs Mosaic.

I do agree with your remote control explanation, if I start an album in Qobuz connect I can click to the next song in Mosaic.

For me there is no difference in tonallity or clarity when starting a song in Qobuz or Mosaic, but the soundstage seems to come slightly forward with Starting the song on Qobuz.

I have downloaded it

Qobuz on Mosaic app works well.
BartĂłk shows on the Qobuz app and work well.

I’m obviously missing something, what is the benefit?

With the Qobuz app you can play music on more devices, not just dCS products, so easier to play your favourite songs anywhere.

One of the positive points for me is that it quickly works when you pick up your “sleeping” tablet, no waiting to connect that happens with Mosaic.

Overall I find the “visuals” more pleasing on the Qobuz app compared to Mosaic.

It can be used next to Mosaic, but not necessary if you don’t need it

Major big advantage for me is that using the Qobuz app I can get a list of my favourite albums sorted on artist name. Tap on an artist name and I get a list of favourite albums for that artist also sorted alphabetically. Not possible with Mosaic. Could only sort all albums for all artists alphabetically.
