Qobuz connect for dCS

Happy that this is working now, really like the Qobuz app, one plus is the quick response (no trying to connect)

Almost don’t dare to mention it, but it sounds different to Mosaic. Will check tonight if the volume levels are the same

Tonally no difference, but the soundstage seems to creep a little forward to my listening position with Qobuz connect.

Turns out that I am god - Cam (album All things light) is the song I used a few times to compare

Listening now. I have to do more comparisons but seems to have more clarity and presence.

Pretty happy about that and the convenience.

The vocals and percussion are definitely more clear on Peggy Lee’s Fever track.

Does not work for me.
The update went well, but when trying to connect with the Qobuz app, it’s as if the tracks I was trying to play on the Bartok eventually failed to be played and were skipped.
I can see the Bartok screen showing the correct track, but the timer stays at 0 on the Bartok whereas the timer elapses for about 5 seconds in the Qobuz app before the track is eventually skipped, and same problem with the next track.
The Bartok was eventually able to play something after a dozen of tracks skipped.
I rebooted everything and the problem remains.
Not a big issue for me as I’m almost exclusively a Roon user, but it doesn’t work as is everywhere.

My config:

I am using the android version (162)

Does the Network Board show version 527?

Yes.
I uploaded the status screen and removed the about I previously posted.

Thank you dCS for making Qobuz Connect available! And we got it even before Varèse it seems (judging by the release notes).

Andre, Release Notes for firmware ( I think ) 162 which is this new update for Qobuz Connect? I am unable to find anything later than 1.4.4 (157) so are you able to provide a link?

The biggest advantage I’ve seen from using Qobuz Connect is the response time when changing songs compared to Mosaic. They start playing much quicker. A list of songs, like a Qobuz playlist, just keeps playing without having to create a queue, which is also nice.

I did have a random issue where when changing songs on my iOS device where the DAC kept playing the previous one. The new song showed in the app but didn’t change on the device. I force closed the app, opened it back up, and then the LINA was no longer a QC endpoint. I restarted the DAC and everything was fine. Hopefully it was just a one off issue.

The app (android) is the 13 June version in the appstore, 1.4.4 (162)

Hi Pete, the Qobuz Connect firmware release notes don’t menion Varèse. https://dcs.community/uploads/short-url/4C79EnQfe0VMu1R4oXfKDgwxwFT.pdf

In fact there is no firmware info available at all online about Varèse at this stage. The dCS Mosaic ACTUS app (separate app for Varèse) is still in 0.x release, so early days for that product.

Am simply assuming the owners of non-Varèse got Qobuz Connect earlier since no evidence to the contrary (but may be wrong of course).

Thanks Andre.

Looks like I’m an isolated case with my problem.

@Phil , have you or the support team received my emails ? (Just sent the Bartok log files.)

FYI:
I’ve found a solution.

The new Mosiac Connect app is terrific. Not only does it work well but the additional sound quality is wonderful. Normally can’t see much difference between Roon/Qobuz and Mosiac/Qobuz but the direct to Qobuz Connect (and Tidal) adds clarity and extension to the sound.
Always considered a CD player as the best SQ but no more. This is great, thanks folks.

Hi - what do you mean by “Mosaic Connect app”? It’s not a separate app is it?
It’s just a way to play through your dCS dac directly from the Qobuz app. At least that’s my understanding.
This whole thing was not helped by the rather less than useful update instructions from dCS. Yet again it felt like it was written by a techie not someone who truly understands that the majority of us just want step by step guides on how to listen to music!
Took me a while and using ChatGPT again to work out how to actually use it. When are dCS going to start getting their releases read by a ‘lay person’ before sending them out?!

Probably should have called it the “Mosaic App’s Qobuz Connect upgrade.”
Guess you’ve figured out that after loading the upgrade, to go directly to Qobuz Connect and your app picks it up from there. BTW… it also works for Tidal Connect.
They’ve made all the features from Qobuz and Tidal’s Connect program’s
music search and use directly to your dCS DAC. Wonderful and sounds better as well.
Thanks dCS!
