Failures of communication where Mosaic is unable to discover Rossini or loses it are usually caused by an issue with your network. If this is a new development have you changed something? Even if you have not done so to your knowledge, has there been an update to e.g. your router or switch software that originated with the manufacturer or supplier?
Edit: Looking back over the thread and as this issue has a bit if a history it may be worthwhile contacting dCs support as I see that one solution involved resetting the Network Streaming Interface:
any trouble shooting ideas for me to try . My Rossini won’t connect with Mosaic on my MBP all of a sudden. Even when I input the IP address directly. I am able to connect via iPhone automatic I see the same ip address I am inputing on the Mac? I tried reseting and power cycling the Rossini but no dice? Any suggestions?
Phil - as this thread has life again I thought I would chime in to say…you can take me off your to do list
My last post was October 2024 as I remained 1 of 10 others who continued to have problems with Mosaic unable to see MinimServer. Other control points, ie JPLAY, did not have this issue.
Sometime in January I decided to randomly have a look and, lo and behold, Mosaic was now seeing MinimServer on my M1 iMac! It continues to remain operational.
Nothing has changed other than…Apple releasing MAC OS 15.1.1, 15.2, and 15.3 (15.3.1 was just released however MinimServer was already appearing).
My conclusion is the problem was caused by MAC OS - as this was the only thing which changed. MinimServer had a different ongoing issue (confirmed to me by Simon) where it would continually hit a local network access error. This setting would not “hold” and needed to be toggled each time MinimServer started up. It actually took several MAC OS updates for the problem to be fixed.
In my scenario MinimServer is (obviously) running on a MAC computer - others who were having the same problem may want to have another look.
Hi,
There may not be many users who have this problem. However, it may be worth reminding that this could not be fixed and we ask for it to be fixed in upcoming updates.
Robert, I think that Gregg is saying that the problem is not something that is, or was, for dCS to fix. It was a Mac issue plus something affecting MinimServer ( Simon Nash being aware of this):
Pete,
I do not agree that this is not a problem on the DCS side. The message is that there are “no UPNP servers available”, so not only MinimServer but also others, e.g. Jplay, or natively implemented in Qnap OS servers are not available. If the problem concerned MinimServer, only this server was unavailable, but it is not.
Regards Robert
Robert, I am just reporting what Gregg said, so if you disagree it will need to be addressed to him.
I see numerous postings concerning loss of discovery by Mosaic of servers annually and have done for years. I every case that I am aware of the solution has never concerned Mosaic but with external factors which interfere with its normal operation.
If you do not use Mac as a server( which is primarily what Gregg’s post is concerned with), yet have this issue then it is likely to have a solution to do with your network, in particular with your router or switch settings.
I can confirm that JPlay was able to see MinimServer while Mosaic was unable to.
The reason I came to the conclusion that the problem was most likely with MAC OS was in the fact that the version of Mosaic did not change. The only change was with MAC OS, and with that multiple OS changes/updates, one of which allowed Mosaic to finally see MinimServer.
