Mosaic : "Play fFom Here"

I am now having more than an occasional issue when using the “Play From Here” option.

I queue the album , go to Play Queue view and select Play From Here. Start at track 5 (say) and track 5 plays fine. However Mosaic may not then play track 6 next but leaps forward or backwards to a track start at random.

Comments, remedies?

The only thought I have, Pete, is whether you have accidentally set play to “shuffle” as opposed to the next track. Do check if that’s the case. If not, I’m sorry I have nothing else

Thanks. That is a good idea but I think that after ten years of using Mosaic I am not likely to have done this. However tomorrow I will run a test using several albums making certain that I do not accidentally hit “ shuffle” or touch ant control and see how that goes.

Importantly I do not select any tracks after the first to be played. Mosaic automatically chooses the one to follow ( which ought to follow in sequence). At that point I am not necessarily even near the Mosaic app.

A couple of times after using “play from here” in Qobuz I had a song playing twice.

No repeat/shuffle engaged

I have investigated further and now see what is happening:

  1. Empty Play Queue.
  2. Select album and Queue.
  3. Go to Play Queue. Check all tracks correct.
  4. Select track to commence from ( Play from Here) using “two bar” option.
  5. Instead of commencing play from that point, Mosaic is reorganising track order !

UPnP seems O.K on the brief test that I have so far carried out. Qobuz Connect also works fine.

As this seems to be a software issue I wonder if @Phil has a comment?

Hi @PAR

I was on annual leave last week so have only just seen this - I’ll get it looked into and, if I can recreate, logged for the software guys.

If I can’t recreate I’ll get back to you for more information.

P

I’ve had that issue too, several times, with different albums, when using UPnP (which is the majority of my listening).

Hmmm … @PAR what source(s) are you getting this happening on?

@Bauer - Have you only had this happen on UPnP?

@Phil Yes, because UPnP constitutes almost 100% of my listening.

So far on Qobuz. It happens every time I try Play from Here. I can send a screenshot if you like?

Most of my listening is to this. I have not had it happen to UPnP but have only tried a dipstick test. So I will concentrate on UPnP and see if it is also happening when used more frequently. I will let you know later.

@Phil , I tried UPnP and the issue occurred immediately. As soon as I selected Play from Here, track 6, Mosaic shifted the track order and moved track 6 from tracks 4,5, 6,7 to the order tracks 10, 11, 6, 12. 13.

I don’t think that I need to test further. For clarification, play did not start at any track.

@Phil , @James responses to this thread are marked by the software as having a solution. This is not so. Can this be removed?

Hi @PAR and @Bauer

We’ve been trying to recreate this this morning here and haven’t been able to do so …

Can you both send me a screenshot of the “Hamburger Menu” → “Support” → “Versions” page from your Mosaic app, screenshots of your playqueue from Mosaic AND a set of system logs taken from your systems after you’ve had the issue happen to [email protected] … please do not post them up here.

Are you both OK with pulling a set of logs?

If not then there are instructions here for pulling a set of logs or give me a nudge and I’ll try to help…

I will message support directly.

I too have this issue from quite sometime mostly with UPnP and occasionally with Tidal. I never bothered to report as there are lot more issues with Mosaic usability that weren’t taken care. Since not all features of Tidal is available with Mosaic I tend to use Tidal Connect often, which is another pain, doesn’t release the connection after end of play.

I will just update the situation as far as I see it.

I am in touch with @Phil at support who has asked for some data. Regrettably I have a computer problem that is preventing me from assembling this. However this should be rectified in a few days time.

It’s just happened again, so I have sent @Phil a screenshot of my playlist, and the system logs.

Fingers crossed that this will enable dCS to get to the root cause, and resolve it…:crossed_fingers:

I sent Phil the same this afternoon.
