Melco N5 connected to Bartók, but the Bartók shows no network connection

I’m sure the answer to this question is staring me right in the face  It usually is! :grinning:

Just setting up my new Melco N5 and have connected it directly to the Bartók by Ethernet. However, the Bartók front panel states that it has no network connection.
I have switched the Bartók off at the mains and re booted it, but still no network connection.

The connections are as follows: Router > ADOT Ethernet Media Converter SFP Port > N5 SFP Port > N5 Ethernet Player Port > Bartòk Network Main Port.

At present I am downloading music files from an external SSD to the N5 music library drive, which has taking forever! However, it does state that this can take longer because of the way the N5 reads the files.
Apart from the language and time, I haven’t touched the settings on the N5 other than directing it to download from an external drive.
Did I need to enable something in the N5?

Thanks :+1:

Hi David,

You should connect a network switch to your router, and then the rest to that switch. Then you are set and ready.

Thanks @Ermos for your reply.

At the moment I do not have a Switch. Will get that (S100) in a couple of months.

I was told to connect the ADOT directly to the N5 SFP port, then Ethernet Player out port on the N5 to Bartóks Network Main port. Is this incorrect?
“Yes, you can connect an ADOT Ethernet converter (MC01) directly to the SFP port of a Melco N5. The ADOT MC01 media converter converts standard Ethernet connections to a fiber optic signal, and the Melco N5, along with other Melco products like the S100/S10, has an SFP port that accepts this fiber optic signal”.

David, I am not familiar with Melco, so this might work.

But in general it is best to have a decent network switch as the basis, to connect everything with it.

I have removed the ADOT totally and connected the Router directly to the N5 which is now displaying an IP address. :+1:

However, the Bartók still shows No Network??
For some reason, the Bartók is unhappy with being connected directly from the Melco N5.

Connections: Router > N5. N5 Ethernet Player Port > Bartók Network Main.

I am wondering why you don’t connect your router, the Melco and the Barton all to an inexpensive switch. Normally that works

You have turned the player port on haven’t you.
In setting on melco you will find it

Also i am not 100% sure if the melco will work if it’s uploaded to the disc.
I can’t remember if mine worked or not, but i remember it took almost 2 full days

Don’t know what you mean Dunc?

Where in N5 settings is the Player Port settings?

Sorted!:+1::+1::+1::+1:
No where did it say that you have to enable that port!
I’ve just aged by 5 years!

Thanks Dunc, you’re a life saver!:+1:

Was about to write how to do it, so that’s saved me that job.
Glad it’s sorted now enjoy.
Just also make sure its not in direct mode, same setting as above but just before the lan section.

Where does it actually say that you have to enable that port? Surely it would be by default?

Anyway, job done! I’ll check that other setting tomorrow.
A glass of wine is required!:wine_glass:

Thanks again👍
