Hi, currently using lina dac with Hifiman ef1000 amp and susvara. The volume occasionally clips to zero. Someone on here named Anthony had the same issue about a year ago but no resolution was ever posted. Can anyone help?
Victor , you asked a similar question 3 days ago. Trying to contact Anthony in the hope that he will fortuitously see your message here is uncertain when he has not contributed for a long time. Just insert @ before his name and select from the little menu that will be generated and insert your choice into your message. If he is still a member and depending on how he has configured his account, this will send a copy of your message to his personal mailbox.
Victor, the Lina DAC supports 4 different voltage output levels. Have you tried them? If the EF1000 clips at the 6V setting, try 2V (which is a much more common max. input voltage level for Amps).
If the EF1000 still clips at 2V, you could try the 0.6V setting but I’d venture a guess that something else might be going wrong in that case
Thanks for the reply. It is not a voltage issue, I have tried that.
Hi, thanks for the reply. I’m not sure what you mean though about inserting the @. Is there a way I can send Anthony an email?
Yes, go into his membership details:
and click Message at the top right.
Hi, I don’t see a tab for messages on Anthony’s profile. Sorry to keep bothering you
Hi,
I think I’ve been talking to your dealer about this over the last few days too … from what I understand no matter whether you select 2v or 6v output (or lower) after about 45 minutes your EF1000 shuts down and has to be allowed to cool off before it will restart, is that correct?
Phil
Yes, when the volume clips the first time, it can be immediately turned back up again, but after the second time, the amp shuts down and needs to be restarted. It does not have to cool down for it to work again after the restart. I tried letting the amp warm up for about two hours with the dac disconnected to see if it would get less hot, but that wasn’t the case.
