Issue with Mosaic and Tidal Connect

I have observed a weird behavior with Vivaldi upsampler using the Tidal Connect and Mosaic and need a fix to this issue.

I use Tidal Connect to play My Daily Discovery, which Mosaic is not capable of, so had to use native Tidal app. BTW this is a restrictiononly on Mosaic no other device or app has that. Anyways, when I do it, after the end of play Tidal Connect connection is never released by upsampler. I had to go to Tidal app, reconnect again to upsampler, play a song and then change to a different output device on Tidal app to use Mosaic again. This has been the behavior with Network Bridge too when I owned it previously. This is a known flaw that was never fixed all thru the revisions.

Today it was even different. I played a song thru Mosaic. At the end of the song and everything was stopped, went to Tidal choose dcs upsampler as the output device but played nothing. I had to take a brief pause to attend a visitor at the front door. After a while Mosaic automatically started playing the last played song on its own.

I was surprised if something went wrong imside the home and realized it is Vivaldi upsampler that released the connection with Tidal and automatically started playing whatever was last played on the system. When this happened this is what the iPad screen was showing.

May I know is there an issue with my upsampler or was it an expected behavior? I see randomly upsampler dropping network connection on its own without any issue.on the actual network. Similarly, when navigating thru songs quickly on Tidal upsampler drops the network connection, so also when switching the songs quickly it drops connection…

Prasad, that’s normal expected behavior.

From the Tidal App, when you chose your Vivaldi Upsampler with Tidal Connect, you’re selecting the “output of choice” for Tidal - a choice that remains until you manually deselect it, even when a playlist is finished.

There are 2 ways you can “manually” deselect Tidal Connect from your Upsampler though;

(1) From the Tidal App itself by deselecting the Upsampler as the output of choice to something else, or

(2) by using an App that “takes over” the Upsampler’s network port, like Mosaic UPnP, or even Qobuz Connect - all of them can be used interchangeably to “take over” the network port on demand by the user

I no longer have the Vivaldi to verify this, but I just verified the above is how it works on the Varèse, Lina, and Network Bridge - they’ve always worked this way (my Bartok is running 3.0Beta, so it’s behavior is not stock).

That one sounds like an anomaly. I’d suggest monitoring and if you can replicate the problem, then email [email protected] with the details.

I have the same issue when switching between Tidal and my Innuos server.

I use your workaround successfully every time.
