How to see full album titles in Mosaic

A simple question when using Mosaic.
When I search the album, the album titles shows only the front part so I cannot know which album it is.
Is there any way I can see the whole title?

I use the Mosaic desktop app (for MacBook Pro, in my case) which provides a much larger screen than Mosaic does on a mobile phone.

It’s in big characters on the cover art. So I can see from your screenshot that you have a selection of Beethoven Symphonies, 6,8,7 and 6 again.

Individual track titles are are the next level once you select the album.

Well, not all the album covers have readable size titles. Also I cannot zoom in or out the screen…

Have you tried the desktop app?

Why not? I have never seem a phone or tablet where you cannot zoom ( enlarge) using finger gestures. You don’t need to zoom in or out of the screen, just enlarge the picture as you search if you need to.

Actually there isn’t a desktop app ( that would be Windows, MacOS or Linux). The app is available for Android or iOS. So it looks like your Macbook laptop may be compatible for whatever reason.

In Mosaic app on Adroid, I cannot zoom with 2 finger gestures unless do a screen capture then enlarge, which is very cumbersome~

I had assumed that, because the Mosaic app is available on my MacBook, there would also be a version for Windows or Linux…

I have owned 3 Android phones ( all Samsung Galaxies) over 11 years and gesture zooming worked faultlessly on all of them.I now have i-phone 15 and that zooms correctly too. So without further information it looks like you phone may be faulty. What is it?

I take back what I said. I have been playing around and , yes, Mosaic will not allow zooming. Apologies.

II am guessing that what you have is from Qobuz. I entered Beethoven in the Mosaic/Qobuz search engine and all of the returns show the symphony number. However they are limited in number as I guess that there is a limit on the number of returns for such a search term.

I then entered Berlin Virtual Symphonics and I can see the symphony number for many albums in the title field but not all.

I think that this ultimately is another instance of the fact that media players have all ( I cannot find an exception) have been developed for pop music and the line lengths are too short for many classical identifiers or arrangements thereof.

Well, I just hope the app developers some day add functions of showing full titles in three dots on the right of the title (eg.like flowing the full titles…)

I do too. However I expect demand is low as classical is a minority interest. However if it became fashionable for pop artists to give their albums and tracks very long titles it might become economically viable .

Another way of looking at the app developmemt is that the convenience of getting the full titles in Qobuz can be a positive differenciation point againest the competitors such as Tidal.

Yes, but even if Qobuz amended the metadata to include lengthy titles this could still not be displayed by media players as the character provision ( line length) remains limited. Everything needs changing across the board which is why I am doubtful.

Actually I wonder how this limitation came about. I imagine that the basic source code for just about all or most media players may have been bought in ( just like the software of this forum is not a dCS in-house creation). Of course customised later but not including some fundamental provisions. Just speculating. .

The MacOS can now run iOS apps on laptops

I wasn’t aware of that, thanks.

It seems Qobuz already provides ther full title meta data as people can see the full title in Mosaic PC version. The bottleneck, I assume is the Android version of Mosaic, in which case the outsouced developer of Mosaic Android version should sort it out?

However iOS apps only work on Macs with Apple silicon (i.e. M1, M2, M3, M4 etc. processors). It will never work on older Intel-based Macs.
