How to play DSD via USB1 on Rossini

I am an original owner of a DCS Rossini and its matching external clock. The server is Aurender N20. I can play DSD file via AES/EBU connection but cannot do so via a USB1 connection.

Is there a configuration on the Rossini (or Aurender) I need to set so that I can play every format via the USB 1 connection just like via AESs/EBU?

Hi welcome to the community (I’m guessing by your pseudonym that you’re a Leica fan. Likewise!)

I don’t own an Aurender, but I suspect you need to turn OFF “Use Native DSD on USB” from the Conductor App configuration.

Perhaps any other members with an Aurender can confirm.

Yes, that is almost certainly the issue. You might also want to check that the USB input on your Rossini is set to USB Class 2. If it is but still not working try toggling it to Class 1 and then back to Class 2.

Thank you very much for reaching out so quickly. I will try out your suggestion and report back.

Thank you Andrew. Unfortunately I have only audio-grade USB1 cables, so going USB2 is not an option for now.

Maybe a misunderstanding. 1 and 2 refer to the device class on the ”USB 1” (USB type B receptacle) input on the Rossini. It determines the need for and type of device drivers at the source end and has nothing to with the cable.

To add to Andrew’s post, please see pages 30 and 38 of the Rossini user manual.

Thank you for correcting my understanding of USB1 and 2. I will try to switch between them per your suggestion.

Thanks Pete.

My pleasure, but to be clear, Anup’s suggestion is the key. Mine was a follow-on, in case following Anup’s advice doesn’t fix the problem immediately.

Well noted. Thanks.

Just want to report back that it was Andrew’s suggestion of switching from USB Class 1 to Class 2 that enabled DSD to be played via USB. Thank you all for your kind help.
