My network bridge is having an output volume that is significantly lower the the other devices.
Is there a way to increase the default output volume?
I use Roon, and can of course increase the volume there, but is the output 2V or 6V etc?
Hi Peter, the NWB is a streamer/bridge, do you mean it’s volume compared to other digital sources? The NWB is a digital component without any analog output, so in itself it doesn’t have a volume. Unless some digital attenuation is going on.
What DAC do you use? I think it’s the Scarlatti so you need to check that for it’s output or volume setting. What does the rest of your system look like?
What are you feeding the output of your Network Bridge into?
The question of 2v or 6v output only applies to the analogue output of a DAC as to the level that a 0db FS signal would reach.
Please check that you don’t have volume turned down on the Network Bridge itself in Mosaic or in Roon as that could be your problem.
You can select in Roon (in the Network Bridge “Device Setup” page under “Volume Control” whether you want to have the Network Bridge as fixed output (which is what you ideally want) or variable output (in which case the digital audio will be re-encoded as volume adjusted S/PDIF).
Thanks again Phil,
I indeed struggle a bit to get enough volume out of my Jadis DA88S amp, with KT120 tubes.
I put the volume at 100% in Roon and the output of my Scarlatti is 6v.
I can easily turn the amp up to 75% without it being very loud.
But when I play my TV over the amp (which I input via Toslink in my Scarlatti) the sound level is much much higher.)
I will experiment with the fixed volume again, maybe thah solves it. (it’s midnight now, so my neighbours probably appreciate me doing that during daytime tomorrow rather then right now
Will keep you posted
Regards
Peter
Thanks
Peter, Phil has indicated a likely cause of your issue which is reduced volume in Mosaic. This is easy to do inadvertently as the control is a small loudspeaker icon at the right hand bottom of the screen and can be brushed by your thumb without realising.
Your Jadis is an integrated amp so your dCS volume control should be set as 0.0 dBfs. From your posting that would indicate that your Jadis would be fed with <6V and I would be more concerned about over loading the Jadis rather than the opposite given the 2mV sensitivity given in the spec sheet.
