Did it again tonight, I was flicking through different sample rates and it just did it.
Plus i had a strange moment when the dac filer boxes on the mosaic app, well no blue box at all on the dac filter and switching between upsampler output rates made it come back and disappear again, then only to be fine once again.
But did another video off it playing up, plus tried the dac mute button, this did nothing at all.
I’m hoping someone may be able to help me troubleshoot an issue that I’m experiencing with local file playback.
My system consists of a full dCS Vivaldi stack together with an Antipodes K41 used as a server. I access my local library through Mosaic/UPnP using MinimServer on the K41.
The problem occurs mainly with high-resolution files stored on the K41. Very often:
Playback cuts off at the beginning of a track.
Some tracks start several seconds late.
In other cases, I am unable to play an entire album without interruptions.
The issue appears intermittent rather than completely reproducible.
For reference:
Antipodes K41 running MinimServer
Playback via Mosaic over UPnP
Vivaldi Upsampler connected through the K41 Direct Stream port
Network includes an Innuos PhoenixNET and Network Acoustics Muon Pro
Latest firmware/software versions installed (as far as I know)
Has anyone experienced similar behaviour with high-resolution playback on an Antipodes server? If so, were you able to identify the cause or a solution?
Any suggestions on settings, diagnostics, or things to check would be greatly appreciated.
Typically it hasn’t played up since and I have been trying to make life hard for it, as in streaming tracks in different files sizes (cd quality up to hires, and between) rather than playing an album with all track the same, as this is normally when things dont quite line up right with something in them boxes. But Its been fine, but it does this and then has a wobble, but the time between fine and wobble can be days, weeks, or longer.
But it looks like a new solution is being hatched up and as always dCS are here for you, the response and service i have received from them on this from the start has been top notch, and it certainly fantastic to have as you certainly wouldn’t get all this from many.
Great to learn it has been working fine for you at last.
Yes. Agreed about the high standards of the help and support that dCS give. It reminds me of the day that we were both at the factory. Neither of my companions is a dCS customer but driving back their reaction was just so impressed by the incredible people that they met there. “They take so much pride in what they do”.
I have been trying my hardest it get it go wrong as a have a few different things to try on it when it does. But its like it knows and won’t play along. Lol.
Just did it, out the blue, this time just duller sounding, rather than the nasty noise i sometimes get.
Anyway videoed it, and manged to do one thing to see if it sorted it. Switching the dac off at the rear and then turning it back on, made no difference at all. But it was one test I was asked to try.
Basically its been fine. I have tried my hardest to get it to play up and given up. So been just using it as and when, and playing whatever I want to listen too. Sometimes don’t you just wish things would just brake.
I know it will probably go again, but when, that’s the question.
THis happened to me recently, Vivaldi Apex DAC disappeared, so checked the link cable in case the cleaner had dislodged it and then rebooted, and all was fine!
Once again did a long video of it, running through all the settings etc, so hopefully helpful to the dCS guys. But one other thing I notice that was strange and never noticed before, on the upsampler the first letter from the artists name, and song is missing. Tried lots of different albums and tracks all the same, once again I videoed it all.
