Help with DAC setup

Good morning

I moved my equipment to a new home this week (South Carolina) and am having some difficulty setting up my dCS. I have an APEX Rossini Dac and APEX Rossini clock. I was able to use my CD player ( connected to DAC SPDIF2 and Audio Research preamp set to bal 1 streamer)

But now I’m trying to use Mosaic.

On my IPAD it’s asking for IP address. Where do I find? I’m stuck at this point

Kind regards

Hi,

Mosaic should only ask for an IP address for your unit if you’ve hit the option in the top right of the screen to go to the direct connect option.

Otherwise when you run Mosaic it should do a search for your streamer automatically.

So, is your Rossini DAC connected to your network and if so, exactly how? (What is between your Rossini DAC and your router?)

When you run Mosaic exactly what happens?

Hello Phil

So IPad just spins. Looking for devices. You are right the IP ask is only when I hit the upper right icon.

I just reset up my equipment after moving to new home. I would think I need to connect to new wifi network. But haven’t even gotten that ask.

So router connects to a Marantz AV. The Marantz then connects to a HDMI extender. The extender out is connected to CAT 5. The CAT 5 goes into a Samsung TV home connect box (20 feet away in walls) That box connects to another HDMI extender which then connects to the Samsung flat TV. Sounds convoluted I know. It’s for TV purposes. The house (2006 build) was wired with CAT 5 but not HDMI - hence use of the extenders.

The Samsung home connect box however has a CAT5 out. I used that port to connect to the DAC

OK so daft question (I hope) … have you connected your phone to your WiFi network or are you using your phones data connection still?

You do need to have your phone on your WiFi network and you do that through the settings on your phone and not via the Mosaic app.

Were you using this previously in your old home?

Whether or not this “works” I would STRONGLY suggest using a network switch here if you don’t have enough CAT5 back to your router rather than passing Ethernet through devices as you never know whether they pass protocols through transparently.

Phil.

So great questions. And I might be stupid. My iPhone is connected to the home network. The IPAD with Mosaic might not be. I just brought it down. And I didn’t take any steps to link to this new home network. Probably explains the spinning.

This setup is unique to this house. Your recommendation of a splitter seems reasonable.

I just left for airport. Will deal with these aspects early next week. TY again.
