Help please. I've been here before!

Bartok has been performing faultlessly for months. Yesterday a fuse blew in my amplifier. I was able to change this and plug everything back into the amp. However now I cannot load Mosaic, It just spins repeatedly. I have tried switching off and waiting - no result. I have copied the IP address from the menu - no result. I can play a CD using the AES connection but as soon as I switch imput to Network Mosaic will not lot load.

Is there anything else I can try? Thank you.

Hi John,

I am guessing here but whatever caused your fuse to blow (maybe a power surge or lightning strike?) just might have affected your Bartòk in some way and left the network board in an inconsistent state. One thing you can try is resetting the streaming interface from the web client using the IP address from the front panel:

Be aware that you will need to log back into any streaming services so have the passwords handy.

Hi Andrew. Many thanks but you are talking to a real tech novice. Could you please talk me through what is involved in resetting the streaming interface. Thank you. John

Find out what your device ip-address is by looking in the menu using the buttons on the DAC (under Info). Use a local computer or device to go to that ip address in a web browser, There you will see some information and options. In the Device Settings tab, an option to Reset the streaming interface can be found.

Just enter the IP address in the address bar of your browser (see below). Not the search bar further down (which may be in a different place depending on the browser you are using).

The web interface consists of three tabs, you want Device Settings.

Hi Andrew. Tried typing in the IP address but if just hangs. I’ll try again tomorrow. Thanks for trying to help.

Sounds like something might have happened to your network, John. I would restart your router, followed by any other switches or mesh repeaters, then your Bartók (leave it off for at least 10 seconds) and finally, if necessary, your remote (tablet or iPhone).

Good mornning Andrew. Tried restarting the router etc. Still looking for devices! Anything else I can try? Thank you.

So you are unable to connect to your Bartók from either Mosaic or the web interface, correct? What IP address is your Bartók showing on the front panel (Info->Unit Status)? And what are the IP addresses of the device(s) you are trying to access it from?

IPaddress of Bartok is 169.254.6.51

iphone IP address is 192.168.1.241

Hi Andrew. Is it worth trying a factory re-set?

Hi John,

Try connecting your Ethernet cable to the LOOP network port of the Bartók instead of the MAIN port. When you do that, can you let me know what the IP address of the Bartók shows then?

There’s you problem John. Your Bartkók isn’t receiving an IP address from your router so is making up its own. As a result it is ending up in a different address space to your phone (the first three numbers of the IP address should be the same) which is why they can’t see each other.

If it worked before and nothing has changed in your network since it last worked it may well be that the ethernet socket in your Bartók was damaged by the surge or whatever blew the fuses in your amp. Hence James’ suggestion to try the other socket.

showing the same IP address 169.254.6.51 same IP address

OK, one last thing to try. Please swap the cable connecting your Bartók to the router if you can (you can move the unit if you don’t have another one long enough, it doesn’t need to be connected to anything other than power and internet for this test), then power cycle with the rocker switch. It’s a long shot but if you have another cable it’s at least easy to try. If that doesn’t work I’m afraid it looks like a hardware fault so we’ll have to get that unit in for service. Do I remember correctly that you’re a Paragon customer?

Thanks Andrew I’ll try this tomorrow. Thank you for all your help so far. I bought my Bartok from Audiobarn.

Sorry, then I mixed you up with somebody else! :see_no_evil_monkey:

Good morning Andrew. Sorry I was unable to carry out the final test. I just have nothing that would reach the Bartok and as I have just had some major surgery I am unable to move the Bartok. Could you please put into action having the Bartok in for service? Thank you for all your efforts. John.

Sorry John, I can’t do that from here, but if you reach out to Jack or Graeme I’m sure they will help you.

Sorry Andrew. When you say reach out to Jack or Graham does that mean getting in touch with Audiobarn where I purchased the Bartok?
