Happy new year to you all

I hope 2026 brings you joy and happiness.

Hopefully some nice new upgrades, and I am sure dCS will surprise us. But as long as you have your health, and music, then really all will be good.

Cheers all.

I’m in Aberdeen/Milltimber at the moment - quite a decent amount of snow here.

Happy New Year from Hong Kong.

A ‘cold’ weather warning was issued today, stating that the temperature may be as low as 12C, which it was early this morning

It’s strange to me, as an Englishman, witnessing native Hong Kongers don their overcoats, hats and gloves when it’s as ‘cold’ as 12C!

It’s all about what you’re used to

I just drove Liverpool to near Banchory this morning, setting out 4.45 as we knew the snow was on the way.

Just made it home. The roads from Aberdeen west to Banchory were uncleared, bad and getting worse. Had we left it a couple of hours later I don’t think we’d have made it in a RWD BMW.

Now for a few days nestled in front of the fire with tunes.

Mark,

I’d invite you out (30 mins drive) for some beer/wine and tunes, but you might not get here :grinning:

The weather is positively ‘balmy’ here now

It’s funny how us Brits are so obsessed with the weather!

That would be a drive out and a long walk back :joy:

I was running around the grounds of Drum Castle in the sun on the 31st. Doubt I’d get there today.

Heading back to Edinburgh tomorrow - wish me luck :crossed_fingers:t2:

Exact same in Italy. Down coats and scarfs. And this is Florence area - not Sicily

My wife and i have made a trek to the sequois in central california. We have done the northern ca a few years back. Car stereo only for a few days. All day hikes for us. Rain and snow in the 40’s. Enjoy

Mark,

Going by the additional snow since I got home, the expected overnight falls and the closure (temporary?) of A90 this afternoon, you’re going to need lots of luck to get to Edinburgh tomorrow.

I think a better plan is to sleep late and make friends with a good bottle of whisky tomorrow

Sounds like a better plan to me, as long as you have a good whisky

Similar here. We were in JĂ€rvsö in the north of Sweden over New Year and storm ”Anna” blew in on New Year’s Day bringing high winds and large volumes of snow. We cut our visit short and left yesterday morning. There was an orange traffic warning which was due to turn red at 1500. We made it home in good shape but we have four-wheel drive and snow tyres. Those without, or who were simply unlucky, did less well..

God luck Mark..going to be snowing all day, but at least you are closer to the main roads which may be kept clear(ish).

My whisky bottles may see some action today.

I’m a few miles further West of Aberdeen - staying put.

We’re on standby and watching the cameras. The best window might be 1300 onwards to depart but we always have tomorrow.

Scene an hour ago. Looking south from N Deeside Road.

Been out and back in the Beemer with “the fringe on the top”

We stayed put yesterday thinking it would relent a little and the roads would have a chance to clear.

Then we got more overnight
not seen it like this for about 14 years we think.

Yes, more here too. I’ve been back from overseas for 12 years and this is the most snow we’ve seen in that time. The littlest boy was up at the golf course snowboarding yesterday. Not sure if I can get him there today.

I think you may have missed whatever window there was. Today will be bad, especially the road south of Stonehaven which is prone to snowdrifts.
