I tried finding the answer on Google and here but I get conflicting answers.
I have a Network bridge and a Scarlatti DAC with Dual AES active but I do not get native DSD output. Instead 24/176,4
I use Roon and can not find a step by step guidance to get it sorted.
Firmware is 1,3
Hi Peter and I hope that you will find joining the form will be interesting and worthwhile.
The purpose of Network Bridge is to enable access to files with high sample rates by dCS units made earlier than Vivaldi or related lines. So Network Bridge has downsampling facilities.
The likely cause of your issue is that Network Bridge has been set to downsample DSD to 176.4. Please see page 12 of the user manual.
If Roon is involved as the cause I am afraid that I do not have knowledge of this software and suggest that you refer to their users forum. However try the solution I suggest above first.
You havenât mentioned " The noise" before, what is that?
It is many years since I have used Network Bridge so I am not sure what am looking at in your screenshot but it shows that DSD downsampling is still set as âonâ. Switch to âoffâ. if that causes a noise I am unsure why and suggest that you contact dCS support:
Does your Scarlatti have the last update v1.30? I see you have. This is the Dual AES dCS encrypted DSD compatibility also called âVivaldi modeâ.
Also please check if the Dual AES mode is set to âautoâ on your DAC.
DSD downsampling makes DSD go PCM from the NWB so it should be off as long as the above is the case.
Another option should dual AES DSD not work is to use SDIF-3 for DSD from the NWB.
Not sure on the Roon side of things as I donât use it but perhaps others can chime in.
Peter was in touch with us directly last week with this issue and his resolution was to swap over the AES 1 and 2 cables - theyâd got swapped over between the Network Bridge and the Scarlatti DAC so problem solved.
