Does LAN Isolaoter improve SQ on dCS?

I’ve read an review article that Pink Funn LAN isolator imprpve SQ dramatically.
So I wonder it can be same effects streaming on my dcs Rossini player?

I can find no technical tests confirming changes. That leaves subjective opinion. Only the person that made the opinion can really know what it entailed and subjective value to them. Pink Faun only seem to claim galvanic isolation and I understand that dCS units are already isolated.

So it may or may not work and may or may not be of significance to you. The only way that you can be sure us to try.

NB: There seem to be several alternative products available, some at less cost ( UK pricing).

Thank you for your advice.
And can you give me some better solutions you mentioned above?

Firstly I do not know what YOU may consider as better ( or preferable). Secondly I have not tried any of these products, I just know that they exist. Neither do I know of their availability outside of the UK market e.g. English Electric ( Cord Company). Incidentally there was a review of the latter in Hi-Fi News with the conclusion that the only way to find out is to try it yourself !

In reality the only way is probably to buy one if the cost is small enough for you to simply write it off if you do not think it offers what you hope for.

Thank you Pete!
I just wanted to know whether the isolates are good for SQ on my dcCS system.
You hinted me the dCS system has its own isolate device so I think that more additional isolate is not required on the dCS.
Thank tyou.

No it won’t help at all. Your Rossini player is engineered to work perfectly as is via its RJ45 connector as long as you use a certified RJ45 cat 5e or CAT 6 UTP unshielded between your router / switch and your DAC.

If you want peace of mind about isolation you could purchase a pair of Fiber Media Converters and a fibre cable for complete isolation from your router or switch. I did it as a fun project - isn’t necessary and made no difference is sound.

I don’t think the LAN input of dCS is fully immune from upstream influences.

Just changed my switch, difference is clearly noticable, and for sure has nothing to do with the data stream.

Thank you Urbanluthier.
I will keep concentrating music not sound technology.

Generally, “LAN Isolator” devices provide Ethernet galvanic isolation in 2 ways; coupling transformers or opto-couplers/isolators - the former typically doesn’t require power, whereas devices based on the latter will require external power.

Clearly, the Pink Faun LAN Isolator doesn’t require power as it’s an inline plug - https://www.pinkfaun.com/shop/home/46-lan-isolator.html. In which case what’s inside is likely a standard Ethernet isolation transformer chip.

The reason it will be useless when used with the dCS is because all dCS Streamer/DACs already have a very expensive Ethernet isolation transformer chip (Pulse H5062FNL) which provides independent galvanic isolation for each of the 4-pairs of Ethernet’s twisted cables. Each of the isolation transformers on the chip is also properly grounded on dCS’ interface board, unlike the Pink Faun’s LAN Isolator.

So, Urbanluthier is spot on, don’t waste your time and $ with this Pink Faun device, it’s likely to do more harm than good.

Oh! Thank you for your deep insight Mr. Anup!

Since i’ve been using Aurender W20SE, which already is provided with double LAN isolation, my Pink Faun LAN isolator is in a closet. No added value whatsoever.

Thank you Rob!
