I watched the video on WhatsBestForum and was not pleased. Perhaps the video you just linked is the second, more in depth video, he asked people to view.
I contemplated posting the WBF thread yesterday however I refrained.
If dCS deletes this thread things will only get worse.
I’ve just watched most of the video (it was the first I’d heard about this disagreement). I hope someone from dCS reads this thread. If the video is a fair representation of the facts, and if the dispute is still unresolved, I would strongly advise dCS to back off. Their actions seem likely to do them much more harm than good, including with the members of this forum.
I expect most of us could describe what the appropriate response to a factually inaccurate review is, or just one with opinions that the manufacturer disgrees with, so I won’t elaborate on that here. Come on dCS, we know that you can do better.
I’m very interested to know what others think (@PAR?). I don’t think I’ve previously posted on a topic that might be considered controversial.
I feel the opposite.
Cameron is a snarky hack that gets demonstrable facts wrong (although dCS did too) and in general when you’re in business you can’t let blatant lies about your product go unaddressed.
It’s clear Cameron did not respond to previous responses from dCS, nor did he even take a cursory look at his own video or he would have addressed his clock comments long ago.
As I have been asked I can only say that I will not comment on particular litigation or threatened litigation without being fully aware of all the facts. I say this as someone whose past career involved the instigation of numerous legal referrals and experience of sitting on a number of juries.
As a general observation, anyone taking such action needs to consider all of the effects it may have and evaluating what activities may have resulted in the position reached including any professional advice received.
Based on the video I think that this will hurt dCS more than a bad review from a reviewer, I mean there are a lot positive reviews of the Bartok on the web.
Just watched the whole video and here is my take on the matter - I wasn’t aware of this before.
This is extremely unfortunate for all. Golden Sound, DCS, and us the consumer. I highly value both Golden Sound and his really in-depth and informative reviews and I have had nothing but praise for DCS products and the company itself over years for having their products. I think they are outstanding in many ways. I have had a Bartok and thought it was wonderful and would buy one with the Apex upgrade today.
I hope these guys can work this out quickly. I would hate to see our hobby get polarized and people start taking sides with reviewers and manufactures etc. Its not helpful to us the Buying public. We have enough stuff to research and get through before we spend out money and would hate to see angst and agendas introduced by any side enter into the enjoyment of the hobby by have these things spill out into the forums. It seems there may be more to this than what is apparent on the surface I don’t know? In any case DCS and Golden, I would encourage you both to take this off line, settle it and simply report back to us all that you guys have resolved your concern and cut off all the potentially negative chills something like this can add to the Hobby.
Respectfully to both!
Both dCS and Cameron are acting absurdly. Sign of our times where extreme action and going nuclear is the norm. Frankly I find publishing screenshots of emails distasteful and only something a gen Z person would stoop to. Rallying the pitchforks and disguising this as a fight for preserving precedent is disingenuous. At the end of the day, he is a content creator and seeking likes/follows for monetary gain. No sympathy from me for this type of behaviour from both parties. Both are foolish. Same goes for the OP who wants account deleted. Seek attention and stir the pot much? Such a disharmanious world we live in.

At this point in the video he lost me.
I watched the video and I must say that, in the end, I also think that the best behaviour would have been sending a message more or less identical as Meitner sent…Now it is too late, but someone at dCS over reacted…hopefully it happens during summer time, in September, no one shall notice anymore…
Agreed. Cameron also behaved badly with his MQA videos like not giving MQA a chance to respond properly.
@Lee
I respectfully disagree re MQA. There is a second, follow up video going through each of MQA’s responses.
In my own research I read and watched basically everything I could find on mqa, and its written and video interviews and marketing. I never found their answers about the codex to be truthful, and this was also reflected in their public, deceptive marketing.
Frankly, I am surprised their was not a class action lawsuit by consumers claiming fraud.
So sorry to keep repeating the same post but, I think we need to close out some of these threads with links to two posts
Time to move forward, learn, grow and heal.
I did my own research too including a meeting with Bob Stuart at Munich 2019 and spoke to some DAC makers. Cameron made a number of mistakes in his videos.
Welcome and Thank you for your comments. I share you sentiment .
There are multiple topics all discussing the same subject. I am going to leave the oldest thread open here and lock the others. The locked threads will remain up and visible, but closed for further comments, so any additional discussion should please be kept to the one open topic. Thanks!
