I’m the owners of a dCS Vivaldi full stack and recently I’ve run into an issue that has never happened before.
When I insert a CD and start playback, the unit initially appears to recognize the disc correctly, but then suddenly switches over to the Network input by itself instead of continuing CD playback and stays on Network.
This behavior is new and was not occurring previously. The issue seems intermittent but is now happening consistently enough to be concerning.
Things I’ve already checked:
CD is properly inserted and readable
Network connection is active as normal
Unit otherwise functions correctly on Network playback
I would appreciate guidance on possible causes or troubleshooting steps. For example:
Could this be related to firmware/software?
Input auto-switching behavior?
Transport/laser read instability?
Hardware fault developing in the CD mechanism?
Has anyone experienced something similar with the Vivaldi?
Automatic switching occurs in Vivaldi from CD to SACD (or vice versa) if Easyplay is selected. Check the CD you inserted was not, in fact, an SACD or hybrid SACD. Also deselect Easyplay ( you can find this in the Mosaic controls for Vivaldi in the Devices option).
Admittedly I do not know if this is the solution for certain as obviously I cannot see your Vivaldi stack and I am not sure why you see Network. I suspect that this may be shown on the upsampler display if previously selected ( you can’t upsample DSD i.e.SACD) whilst DAC is showing dual AES ( does it?) . However I think the above might be a reasonable guess as to what is going on. If not then we will have to think again.
The only time I’ve experienced anything similar was when an app on the Ethernet network was trying to talk to my Vivaldi. It was usually when my wife launched Spotify. But that was years ago, with subsequent Spotify and dCS network firmware updates that behavior never reoccurred.
Maybe try disconnecting your Ethernet port in the Vivaldi one and see if the symptom stops. Or look at what else is on your home network that might be triggering something in your Vivaldi One.
