dCS Rossini,automatic jumps by 0.5

My dCS Rossini, when adjusting the volume up + or down - . automatically jumps by 0.5. For example, if I set the volume in Roon or Mosaic app to 40.0, it will automatically jump to 40.5 after a second (this has only started happening recently). I checked whether other programs like Mosaic or other devices running in the background might be affecting it, but I tested them all. I also restarted the Roon Server , restarted Rossini but the problem still remains. The same is happening also happens In Mosaic App. Setting to for example 40.0 it goes to 40.5 after a second.
In Roon Volume Control is set to : Device Volume

I made also a video of that strange behavior.

App version: 1.4.4 (161)

Front panel version: 2.10

Control board version: 2.10

Network Board version: 1.4.4 (527)

Hi Robert,

I hope the dCS tech team will reply to you, so I call @Phil and @AndrewS .

Many thanks Erno. This is not one I’ve seen before so @Phil is definitely the right person to tackle this.

Hi @SlowikPL

Thank you for flagging this - it does seem that this is something that slipped in in one of the firmware updates recently, the software team are aware of it and I believe are looking at having a fix for it in an upcoming firmware update.

I’m afraid I can’t give you a more definitive schedule though.

I hope that helps.

Phil

Thank you all for your support. If there is anything you need from me to replicate the problem, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Maybe Recent Network Board version: 1.4.4 (527) update from ( 523 ) is making this problem, because it was not that long ago i noticed it

For example, I can provide the serial number (since I know not all Rossini units are the same) or specify the exact volume levels at which this behavior for 90% occurs. ( not always ) The volume always jumps back to the same setting of 0.5 dB.

Let me know if you need more details.

It doesn’t matter whether I set the output voltage to 0.6 V, 2 V, or 6 V — the issue still happens.

Today I did a network update to version 529 from 527, but the problem is still there. Just reporting that nothing has changed

I did not notice this before, but it indeed is happening too on my Rossini DAC, using Roon.

Could it be that the update changed the sound, too? Made it more relaxed, less forward sounding or am I imagining it?

You’ve got it. There was nothing in the revision that affected the sound. we are up to revision 529 and here are the release notes:

The sound is back to normal, if not even better than before. It was in my mind.
