dCS at High End Munich 2025

Yes only static. So no Varese being demoed.

Lina (x) can really scale with any system, that’s the beauty of showing it in a well setup system like this. Being an entry point into the dCS world but at the same time very capable of being the end point as well. Sensible choice I think. All-out-assault in show conditions is hard to setup and get right. Anyway I had heard the Varese before so no problem for me.

They told me that new remote does not work yet with the other, non-Lina lines unfortunately - though they are thinking about it.

I was afraid of that… Thanks for the info! I will stay with my Plank for the time being.

Yeah, too bad. I’ve held it in my hand, felt really nice. It’s an infrared remote alright, but the IR codes it sends are different from The Plank for the time being.

They certainly had quite a few Varese transports dotted around the factory when I was there a few months back.
So they must have quite a few ready to go out to dealers and new owners i would guess.
The new remote looks interesting.
Plus i have to say the new lina dac x looks very nice in silver

Understood. It’s early days yet…

You and me both…

The Varèse Transport is only 131 mm in height versus 196 mm for the Vivaldi Transport and 178 mm for the Rossini Transport.

I like the streamlined look. No buttons, no display!

You have got to remember that the transport in the vivaldi was the esoteric at the beginning, this is quite a large transport in height, especially compared to the one now used in all dCS transports.
As they now use the same transport.

The annual High End Munich visual overload for those not being able to join in person.

It is quite overwhelming in person too

One of the many benefits of the single board construction (Rossini and Vivaldi contain four separate boards that need to be stacked) as well as much more compact transformers.

There are buttons (power and eject) but they’re ”hidden” under the fascia a la Lina.

It’s helped having your guidance, August  (Been fun, too!)

I’d be lost without you northern hemisphere folk.

“Some of work we have done on the user interface [for the Varèse] and the experience of the dCS ecosystem has found its way into the [non-Varèse] Mosaic app as well.”

Looking forward to seeing more when it gets released …

Agreed however Qobuz Connect may prove to be a more important event. As I still keep my feet in the water over at the Naim forum (+20 years), people there are downright giddy about Connect. Most significant are the number of comments from people dropping their Roon membership and going all in with Connect.

Lots of comments about it sounding better than Roon, however not sure if those same feelings will translate over here as well .

I’d imagine only the ones without any extensive local libraries. For those of us who’ve had Tidal and Spotify Accounts for the longest time, both of which have had “direct connect” capability for a while now, Qobuz Connect really holds little value.

If there’s one common trait among many audiophiles, it’s a vivd auditory imagination

I launched Mosaic ACTUS to see if it would reveal any secrets… (but wasn’t successful in spoofing the Varèse, and it revealed nothing other than mDNS queries on the network )
