At least the Lina DAC X will be on active demonstration.
What are your predictions of what we can expect to see from dCS? Varèse? Vivaldi and Rossini 3.0? Mosaic 2.0? Qobuz Connect integration? DSD 256 capability in the whole range? Other novelties?
Novelties may not be shown at Munich. It depends upon their marketing strategy as well as whether things have reached the stage of development where they have been signed off. If they are showing Lina DAC X they may feel that simultaneously evealing other new products/revisions might get lost in the noise.
Myself I am hoping for a coffee attachment ( ice cream may be even better) .
BTW, this is the last Munich High End Show. Next ear it moves to Vienna.
Color Scheme:
The DAC itself would retain its minimalist high-end design, but reimagined in a macchiato palette — warm cream, soft caramel browns, and subtle espresso accents.
Finish:
A matte or satin finish with light wood or leather inlays reminiscent of coffeehouse elegance. Think sculpted aluminum with walnut trim or textured ceramic knobs.
2. The Macchiato Attachment:
Functionality Concept (Fictional):
A small, detachable espresso module that sits neatly on the top or side of the DAC unit. It would serve as:
A visual/novelty piece for audiophiles who appreciate fine coffee as much as fine audio.
A smart warmer or aroma diffuser, releasing coffee scents to enhance the sensory experience during listening.
Design Integration:
The attachment would mirror the Lina’s minimal lines and materials, with an OLED display showing brew status or scent diffusion settings, glowing in soft amber or cream-white lighting.
3. Setup Environment:
Placed in a modern listening lounge with soft lighting, a hand-crafted coffee cup, and high-end headphones resting on a wooden stand. A perfect fusion of luxury audio and café culture.
If the transport and I/O module are shown then it means it won’t be before the launch but will be the launch or subsequent to it. dCS do not pre-announce products or software revisions. When you are officially told by them ihen it is ready to be acquired. Of course you may join a queue for it due to manufacturing limitations. That is normal.
Of course, anyone who knows us will know that launching a product like this is just the beginning: over the next few months we’ll be studying feedback from customers and listeners to identify how and where we can continue to improve, whilst also working on the Varèse CD/SACD Transport and Digital I/O Module ahead of their launch in early 2025.
I’m not joining you in speculating on what dCS will do this year, but will rather be going this final year in Munich even if for the first time.
An audio friend said to me it’s something to experience even if just once, the largest show in the world in it’s kind. I’ll try and write something about it although it will probably be difficult with so many impressions in those two days I will attend. Thursday and Friday I’ll be there.
If anyone from the forum that is there wants to meet up let me know.
Ernos, that isn’t a product announcement as there is no product. All it says it that:
And
I.e. there may be these in the future , it is still being worked upon. No product information beyond the vaguest, no specs, no price, no availability dates.
Perhaps it is your eyesight, or selective reading, or just plain misunderstanding?
The product is Varèse, it already has been launched, and the CD/SACD Transport and Digital I/O Module announced for launch in early 2025. Please re-read, tomorrow, after a coffee
