Long time lurker, first time poster. I recently purchased a HIFI Rose RS130 network transport/streamer to use with my Rossini Apex player. Connecting the RS130 to the Rossini using the AES input produced wonderful results, but I would like to use the master clock with the RS130 Enter the usb input. After connecting output 3 to the appropriate word clock input on the RS130 (75 ohm) and making the appropriate settings in the Rossini player, the RS130 recognizes the Rossini but will not play any audio. If I disconnect the clock cable, the usb input works fine and the RS130 produces audio as normal.
If you meant the clock out of Rossini to Hifirose, it would not work because Hifirose expects 10 Mhz clock signal while Rossini can output either 44.1k or 48k clock signal.
As per @hifimckinney, the HiFi Rose has a master clock input and Rossini’s clock output is a Word clock output.
A master clock signal is 10mHZ ( typically acquired as a reference from e.g. a rubidium clock), whereas a wordclock signal is 44.1, 48kHz or multiples thereof.
