Click "PLAY" on higher-rate DSD files by mistake?

What happens if one attempts/tries to play back higher-rate DSD files by mistake (e.g. DSD256 or DSD512)? I’m assuming/hoping nothing, but I’d prefer to be sure (no distortion etc.)? Basically, what I’m asking is, is it safe to store higher-rate DSD files on my NAS, even though the Vivaldi can’t play them back? Before anyone asks: yes, they do list on Mosaic as if they’re playable, or I would not be asking this question. Thanks in advance!

Greetings from Switzerland, David.

David, in my setup, I get silence, but the Vivaldi does play back the track which displays on the Upsampler as “NETWORK 16/DXD > DXD” (my Upsampler is configured to upsample all PCM to DXD).

So, seems safe enough if you accidentally play a DSD256 track
