BBC Radio 3 Oddity via Mosaic

When I wrote about Radio 3 via Mosaic a couple of months ago I reported that the data rate was showing as AAC 320 kbps. For the last few weeks this has become AAC 317.4 kbs. That’s a pretty odd figure. Has anyone any idea why this is so?

BTW - Any update on dCS’ radio amalgamator adding the high rate data URLs for the other national BBC radio services?

This is pretty typical for streaming radio and the bitrate can change periodically depending on how the station has their systems configured. This will be especially true if the station is using any sort of variable rate encoding. What you are seeing is the actual bitrate of the stream that your unit is getting from the BBC.

We’re looking into this. Unfortunately, it’s not a simple as just getting those URLs added to the catalog.
