Bartok Apex verifying the update

How do I verify the apex update has been done on used piece. The gentleman that sold it to me didn’t do the upgrade and I messaged dcs and was told they have no records of the upgrade. It does have the apex plate but anyone could add that. I just want to be sure this was done. I will open it up if that is what it takes.

Well, I’m afraid that if dCS has no record of the Apex upgrade given the Bartok serial number, then the Apex upgrade wasn’t done… :slightly_frowning_face:

Hello there, that’s not always the case. I’ll be glad to look into this for you. Please send me the serial number via email to mdownie at dcsaudio.com and I’ll get the details you need.

Thanks

Great then!

The back panel changes with the apex model or upgrade. It will now say apex on it next to the power inlet. Not a sticker, but printed on.

Just for the record for anyone reading this thread in the future, as Dunc says, the black rear panel containing all the labels is replaced during an APEX upgrade with one that says APEX.

The plate is metal and the legends are screen printed. Falsifying this would require a much higher degree of sophistication (and cost) than a simple sticker, so while not a guarantee of an upgraded unit it is certainly a good indication. And of course dCS should have records of all legitimate upgrades performed by our partners.
