A new Power or Integrated Amp to complement my Bartók Apex

He certainly does! I wonder if his racing car is also gold? Nice guy though.:+1:

While we are talking Japanese high end integrated amps…

I hear very good things about Michi - great build quality, very well reviewed (and championed by Micheal Fremer no less) - and DEFINITELY black.

…they do a nice integrated.

…lots of digital stuff in the box you possibly may not need though.

If pure analogue is your thing - the Technics is super clever and also gets fantastic reviews. A friend of mine has one, and loves it.

(Available - and rather fetching - in Black)

Thanks Matt…The Michi looks really lovely, but it’s got a DAC inside.

If I was looking for something integrated - wanted to keep it simple - and European - then Hagel is probably where I’d go.

Huge reputation - great brand.

@all2ofme beat me to it :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: , it can be any RAL color, as far as I know.

Enjoy the journey

Thanks, Just been looking at Hegel on YouTube…

Really good - also has a DAC (so many do now) but the reviews as an integrated amp alone are stellar…

By the way, as an example of the point I was making in the other thread on external streamers, w.r.t this Hegel’s H600 Integrated;

That red-boxed area highlighted in the H600’s insides, thats a StreamUnlimited Stream1832 hardware module for streaming services. You won’t see it mentioned anywhere on Hegel’s website

Soulnote is definitely worth a listen. The Soulnote room with YG speakers was my personal best in show at the Tokyo Audio Show a couple years back. They have a bit of a unique approach to design, but the sound really stood out. Very organic and lifelike. Might be a good match for a dCS DAC. And they do come in black

Blimey, that looks so busy inside that box!

I have been having a good look at Soulnote👍

David, my journey with a Lina w/clock and a Hegel H590 led to dCS & Naim. I urge you to please listen first.

Could you expand on that please Eric.

I hesitate to say more than that I found the Hegel H590 at odds with the lush timbral detail, natural reverberation, tonality, etc of the dCS. The Naim New Classic NAP250 is a perfect partner for all the above and more fun and more joy.

Speakers are Dynaudio Heritage Special, so nothing held back there.

Thanks Eric…Back in May, I did actually demo the Naim 350 mono blocks at a dealership. I found them very pleasant. And, at £13,000 I’d be able to give up one of my paper rounds!:joy:

Can I have your paper round then?

Paper rounds are like NHS Dentists, almost impossible to find!

My D’Agostino Progression integrated (in black!) works very well well with the dCS kit.

D’agostino always has some steampunk/10 000 leagues under the sea-esthetic to me, very nice.
