One of the final parts of my two year system transition away from Naim was the implementation of a HRS rack to hold my DarTZeel and dCS components. In addition to highly regarded racks (which dCS use in their factory demonstration room) HRS also manufacture a line of footers, designed to work together with their racks, which provide additional isolation and noise draining capabilities.
There are quite a number of manufacturers playing in the same field such as Stillpoints-IsoAcoustics-CMS-Nordost etc.
As HRS footers are designed to work together with their support racks my question is not to ask for brand recommendations but rather simply who uses a high performance rack AND also employs additional footers underneath their dCS components. If anyone is employing both solutions I would be interested to know their experiences.
I do exactly what you are asking about. I use an HRS rack and IsoAcoustics footers under my Vivaldi One.
But, unfortunately, I am certain my response isn’t going to be useful as I didn’t A/B test with and without the footers. The footers were a holdover from before the V1 and it was only the HRS rack I added post the V1.
So I have the type of setup you are asking about. But while I am delighted with my system I am unable to comment on any synergies from the two components you are wondering about.
A question for everyone: do you replace the existing footers with the one you bought or you keep the dCS footers and you put your gear on it ?
I ask the question because I am not against replacing stock footers with better one, but Aesthetically I don’t like when the gear is on footers and you can see stock footers floating in the air. I found a picture of what I dislike aesthetically…
On my dCS equipment, and any others where removal of the original was not difficult, I replaced the footers with Stillpoints. Where it was not so simple, I used a PSA Power Base, and in a couple of instances, I used Herbie’s Iso-Cups.
Alright, thanks guys, I will investigate that very soon, even though my background in mechanics is absolute zero…My wife would do better but I cannot take the risk she finds out the price of all this, she would send me in a psychiatric hospital
So I have an Artesania rack and have recently been trying the Stack Audio AUVA EQ feet under the equipment. So far it has made a good improvement and definitely worth doing. The Stack Audio feet work to reduce vibration so compliments the isolation provided by the rack.
I also use the Atersania dampers on top of most of the kit
Im not complaining. its self imposed. dcsx4, 4 mono amps (center, stereo, sub), stereo amp (rear channels), mains preamp, mono phono preamp, stereo phono preamp, oppo dvd, power conditioner, turntable speed control, Wilson Audio subwoofer controller, and SUT. The turntable takes a large spot but not really a box. That may not be everything…but it’s enough. I don’t regard it as a display as much as an engineering project worrying a lot more about sound. It’s hidden flush to the left wall behind the left front speaker. I don’t use much of anything that I don’t have to have so nothing between the source and the amp except a straight through no processor preamp. Yes, I’ve tried the vivaldi without the pre and didn’t find it was better.
A slightly different take on this from me. I use an Artesania rack but with Townsend corners on the feet so the complete rack is isolated from ground borne vibrations
