Going to see this guy play the weekend after next. Peeing down both legs with excitement!

This in heavy rotation to get me in the mood…

The programme looks great…
It promises to be a superb evening of aural magnificence!

I wonder if he will sound as good as he does at home?

How about Lukáš Vondráček?? Honestly folks, listen to his Rach 3 and tell me if you are not absolutely spellbound by all the new stuff he finds in this familiar score. And his purity of tone is breathtaking! He first caught my ear when he won the Queen Elizabeth Piano Competition back in 2016, and listening to Volodos all evening brought it all back and had me searching on Qobuz. This recording seems to be one of the few good things to come out of the COVID lockdown which emptied his diary of an otherwise manic concert schedule.

Thanks for the recommendation.

I’ve not encountered him before so, as a starting point, I’ll have a listen to this album (especially the Rach 3)…

He seems to combine of Gould’s clarity with Horowitz’s tonal imagination and temperament. The result is revelatory. Colour me impressed!

High praise indeed!

I prefer their later work, so I bought this ‘Blue Album’ 2023 Edition (Qobuz 24/96), which sounds superb to me!

I’ve just had a listen, and I concur with your assessment.
A spellbinding performance!
A good recording too.

I’ll listen to the rest of this album, as well as his other two albums available on Qobuz.

Glad you enjoyed it! At the end of the day this discoveries like this are what it’s all about as far as I’m concerned!

This has to rank as one of my favourite Goldberg interpretations, if not my absolute favourite. Superb left hand/right hand balance with great articulation and a beautiful sensitivity for the tempo- and mood shifts. I can even live with the ornamentation when it is done this deftly! If you are tired of the “Gouldbergs” and longing for a different take then I can definitely recommend taking Ms Dershavina for a test drive.
