It’s the sort of name one may find in a P.G. Wodehouse book…![]()

Never heard of him but heard his song Rein Me In while driving home this evening. Found his album on Qobuz. Reminds me of Springsteen in his early years. I like it.

Sound clarity and details are absolutely mind blowing on this tape transfer to DSD!

I like the whole album but the track Goliath is brilliant. It was played on a really unique instrument, which Mike describes on a comment from the music video on YouTube:
“Thanks for checking out ‘Goliath’ my friends. This Nick Benjamin guitar is designed to be 1/3 bass, 1/3 guitar and 1/3 slide guitar, at least that’s how I’m trying to create music with it. It’s also maple, which is an unusual choice for an acoustic, let alone a baritone scale guitar.
It’s a HARD guitar to play so I’m enjoying writing pieces just for it. That’s a THICK string on the bottom. We tried to keep the performance pretty organic as the wood shifts and changes, but I’m very grateful for Casey Sabol stepping up with some extra subtle production layers.”
Interesting! Kinda reminds me of the Chapman Stick that Nick Beggs (of Kajagoogoo fame) likes to play ![]()
Old stuff I quite enjoyed in my early 20s, and now definitely love coming to my 50s.
