What's Spinning June 2026

Blu DeTiger “All I Want Is Everything”. Eye-candy Bass player (with vocals that reminds me of the band Ivy) Up on Qobuz in 16/44.

When two French psychologists from Montpellier, husband and wife, decided to create a House-Music band in the middle of the 90s, who could have guessed they would end-up ?:

  • issuing 7 albums, with some tracks featuring Infadels, Benjamin Diamond, Mark Gardner from Ride… , some of their titles being selected for Apple’s international ads
  • touring worldwide with real musicians and real instruments for about 20years!

A new acquaintance from Vienna, courtesy of my colleague Emron, and going straight onto my demo playlist. Try “Old Man”.

I was playing Anette Askvik’s “Bring Her Home” on the big system in Vienna when she walked into the room and sat down, you could have knocked me down with a feather! It turns out she had been signing albums on a record seller’s stand close by and heard it. When the track had finished I had to point out to the audience that the artist had just walked in and everyone applauded. She just smiled and looked a bit embarrassed, an incredibly humble person. At the end of the session she came up and thanked me for not playing “Liberty” (which was in heavy rotation in many rooms).

So sorry for Anette, but it got to the point where I would walk out of a room whenever Liberty was cued in Vienna this year. Sometimes this happens that a track gets played too much. As it is, it was already in heavy rotation in Munich last year.

This thread always reminds me what a great visual medium the (LP) cover is.
